Message: i took out my middle seat. made my own custom box for the center for one 12" sub. i`m running a JL w3 DVC in there. sub faces backwards towards bed. box is contoured like stock arm rest. best thing is it has alot of volume for the sub to pound! i have a kenwood 600 watt amp pushing the 12 mounted behind the seat. Stacked on top of that amp I have a 400 watt amp pushing 2 sony explode 8`s in a custom box behind the passenger seat. all of this is in a regular cab. i can mae my tailgate rattle, windshield wipers go nuts, had to glue my rear view mirror and side mirrors, and now my grill kit is starting to fall off. email me if u want specs on how to make the custom center box.. toddpetrignani@juno.com

Message: Dan do you have a console? It shouldn't slide around too much, mine doesn't. I have a JL 12" sub with a box behind my passenger seat and it stays. I also have the bench seat, it's a 98.

Message: Yeah, Eric, i have the whole arm rest thing in there. My Dak's a '99 with the 40-20-40 split bench. I dont think it would slide around so much if there wasnt that hump behind the passenger seat where the jack used to be. I had to take that out too. I would love to be able to somehow take out that armrest and do something cool in between the seats...

Message: what worked best for me was a custom made box from a local radio place in VA.... the box is inch and half shorter than my cab wide... I got a reg cab and I did not want to lose any room behind the seats so what they did is made the box 10 inches thick at the botom and and 2 inches at the top which is right below my shoulders making it about i think about 18" tall not to sure....they then connected the two boxes with a really thin piece of wood that is right behind my center console, and carpeted it all solid black to match my interior. then i put two 8" infinity kappa's with a rockford 800....the amp being jammed between the two boxes and center console. I registered 141 on the decimeter scale at a local comp....the most expensive thing was the damn spakers... the box only ran me about 180 carpeted... so check you local non chain radio places they may be able to help ya!!!!

Message: I have a custom box behind my driver seat with a MTX thunder 8000. It's powered by a Punch 500S. For the top end, I have a punch 600.4 going to Boston Acoustic pro 6.5 components in the doors and Boston's 5.5 in kick panels. It's super clean sound and has plenty of bass. I didn't want to go with a huge system due to the weight. I listen to rock and rap. It has more than enough bass for me. I can do good in sound quality, but no spl system here, but I get more than enough volume out of it. I impress everyone when the listen to it and find out what I have. In my opion, if you want big bass. you should have bought a extra-cab.

Message: Since this post is still running... I'm running 2 10" JLw3's behind my seats and Boston Acoustic Pro Series 6.5 component systems in the doors and dash. All this is powered by an Alpine MRV-450 amp, mounted between the two subs. The subs and amp are all mounted to one box. I used MDF and made it 16" high (from floor board to lip under window) can't remember off the top of my head how wide it is. It's wide enough to just barely touch the seat belt boxes at the floor board. It's 14" deep at the bottom and 4" deep at the top. I should have made it 12" and 2" so taller people could still comfortably ride with me. Anyone taller than 5'11" maybe 6' would have their knees in the dash. Oh well, if they're not happy, then they can get the hell out. :-) I set in the box 2" in the middle to mount the amp in. I love what they have done to the new v12's. When you screw in the amp, there is a plate that snaps in on the top to cover the screws. And on the bottom after you screw it down and tuck all the wires away, there's a bottom plate that screws in with alans. You see anything but a great looking amp. Anyways, sorry for rambling. If any of you guys want the demensions (being that you are 5'11" or shorter) I'll dig them up and post them on here.
Later,
'98 3.9 RC... A few mods... ;-)
'88 340 RC... I'll never tell... Okay, I might... ;-)

Message: Anyone every try the Alpine Bass Generator's, not even sure if they make them anymore, but some probably does. They are essentially a low frequency vibrator that bolts to floor under your seats and gives you the effect of 2-12" subs but they require the power needed to push the average 12" sub. Never tried them but heard they work well and eat up no space in your RC Dak!!!!
