 Subject: Roll Pan interference

My '02 quad cab 4x4 has a round metal tube behind the rear bumper that is mounted on rubber mounts between the frame rails. This tube is not part of the bumper but looks like some kind of tube to stiffen the frame by tying the rails together. It would interfere with a roll pan installation because it sticks out past the tailgate vertical plane. Can this tube be removed without having any effect on chassis stiffness???

duh!! nevermind, i just found the posts on the other forum showing the intake system.. great fabrication job.. I didn't get through alll the posts, but any dyno or performance numbers to show the gains?

That is in Dodges terms a "dampener," heres a link to a previous post about it: POST 255
It is only on the quad cabs and I too had to remove it to install my SirMichaels Rollpan, I have since added the hitch which I imagine stiffened the frame back up.
