Message: This site is great!! I have a 2000 3.9 CC and just picked up the gauge kit. It's not what I expected, I'm scared to install it. First off, I think it looks cheap out of the box, It may look good on the truck though. Second, I can't use my dimmer switch, I have to wire the kit to my parking lights and use the cheap switch they sent me so I can use the Blue/Green option which I don't really care for. Someone please tell me if this is worth the trouble? Thanks alot.

Message: Ack! Your gonna hate the installation! :0) I have the same basic truck (2000 Regular Cab 3.9). Your going to need a pair of plyers and some snippers. See where the wire comes out the bottom of the gauge face? That, for some reason, lines up almost perfectly with a mounting stud for the plastic cover on the gauges.
Ya need to snip the mounting stud off, don't worry, you don't need it! Next, take the plyers and grab that little Stop Pin on the Speedo just above 120mph. Give it a good yank, pull that bugger right out! No hole in the gauge face kit for it (At least, mine was that way). I recommend using some sort of adhesive to hold it down, I glued mine, but double sided tape works too.
Did the kit come with the directions? There are certian things you have to do to keep the gauges calibrated.
Disassemble of the dash is fairly easy, it just pops off. :0)
Ok, on mine I took the little control unit and actually mounted it with a single screw between the inner dash and the steering column, but if you have tilt this might not work. The touch-switch is neat in that it glows too, and is adhesive.
Oh, and your going to LOVE finding the parking light power. :0) It's one of the brown/white wires coming out of the switch. I think it's the right hand side one, so that'd be upper right wire. There is a ground wire in there too, you can splice there instead of hunting around. It looks SWEET at night, and good at day! Although say bye-bye to your idiot lights, you won't be able to hardly see them anymore, so watch your gauges!

Message: I got my truck back from the bodyshop today and decided to take on the gauges. It was suprisingly easy thanks to your help. Everything came apart without a problem but I couldn't find any brown/white wires in the headlight switch! I just used a multi-meter and played with the switch using process of elimination, Until It found it was the upperleft (black/yellow) wire. The upper-right wire worked until I turned on the cargo light. I was so scared of wrecking something. The only fear I have now is that my battery is going to run dead because I did something wrong. I used my digital camera to take pictures of the whole process and I post them somewhere when I get a chance. The camera was also handy for recording the Gauge positions before I started. Being a Metric Canadian, now I have to learn to drive in MPH!!!

Message: Doh! Your right brown/yellow! Sorry, got it wrong there. You know, I think I may have hooked mine up so that it dies when the cargo light is on...
Er...
Ah, well, who drives with the cargo light on? :0)
They ARE nice, aren't they? Looks real snazzy at night. Good luck with the conversion!

Message: I am thinking of getting the guages but not to sure of what they will look like. I have a 2000 sport V8 I have seen them on other trucks and they look great. but, I have noticed that they all have black trim that seperates the guages, and on the dakota we dont have that,( just a big ol' cluster)just wanted to see if you guys have any pics. that i could look at before my decision. and when i do get them if someone could kinda give me step by step instructions, i herd they are a BITCH to install!!! anyway have fun everyone!!! Thanks, Chad J.

Hey, I live in canada too and was thinking about purchasing these gauges. The one thing I was wondering was that if the outer ring of the gauge is in MPH, and the truck displays Kilometres per hour, would you have to re-program your pcm or anything?
thanks

Message: For those interested in installing SpeedGlo Gauges on their 7000 RPM Dakota clusters. Go to EBay and look up Item #1839459177. I have purchased this set-up and it looks great! Best of all, you DO NOT have to remove your Gauge needles!! Hope I have helped you out.
