This is sad.. I don't have my dak anymore.. But I still look down on S-10's and I'm driving a Mercury Cougar now. I realized I would rather ride a pink tricycle around a school campus then be caught dead driving a S-10.

Man, there sure is a lot of ghetto trash on this board.
All you have to do is look at the car magazines. See which truck takes off faster under similar conditions. Plot a graph of the acceleration from 0-100. This will tell you who will usually win the race.
Everybody saying, "Oh, I beat an S-10" is not worth anything to me. Maybe one was running differently. It is a very inaccurate way of picking who is faster. S-10's, in my opinion, do accelerate faster than Dakotas due to the weight and horsepower advantages. I still take pride in my Dakota because I believe...
It looks better
Horsepower is easy to come by

Very well put 92dakota i also think the ones with the 4.3 does run pretty good you have to remember that the 4.3 has the same bore as the v-8 does basically its a v-8 minus 2 cylinders.I have an old car and a old p/k both chevys there ok trucks and i like chevys but i don't ever come on the dakota board and bragg about how good my chevys are and that dakotas suck,i like my dakota and i like my chevys,i bought my 2001 cc 4.7 dakota its paid off and i love it,and i've put alot of money,hardwork,hours,and cuts and bruses on my old chevys i wouldn't sell any of them.One thing about s-10's though there fuking everywhere everytime i turn around...ahh...theres an s-10 there.

3.9 = 5.2 minus to cylinders
4.3 = 5.7 minus to cylinders
92Dakota, looking at two vehicles a magazine tested is just as bad as saying "Oh, I beat an S-10", because those are not the same as say your vechicle or my vehicle and the one next to you in the staging lanes. Just because some magazine got a regular cab RT to go 14.9 doesnt mean that everyone will run that fast.... just because my friend with an extreme ran a 17.1 doesnt mean everyone will run that slow...
