I'm thinking about getting a Raider Nomad II cap put on my 2001 Club cab Dakota. I heard that the single rear handle can be an issue with the rear tailgate contour, that it won't close properly. Some reccommend the 2 T handles instead.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem or is it something I shouldn't worry about?

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for the info. The thing is that I have a chance at an almost new cap for $550 compared to a new one @ $1379. This cap only has the one handle in the middle and don't want to buy it if this doesn't work on the Dakotas.

Here's my $.02....dunno how much help i will be here, but ill give it a shot.
A couple of weeks back, i got a canopy from the parents for free(broke college student here!!), just an old aluminum one off of my dad's '89 Dak. It has the single handle on the back, and the tailgate contour on the back doesnt seem to be causing any problems. I can't see where it would be any different on a fiberglass cap...BUT they undoubtedly do have better, more exacting fit and finish than teh aluminum ones...

HTH,
Mike

Well, that does help a bit except that I'm wondering about the fit on the newer, redesigned dakotas. I'll have to look around in some parking lots and see what others have done.

Anyone have a cab on the newer models?

Thanks again,
Tom

Thanks 2nddak! That makes me much less worry-some. Just out of curiosity, what model A.R.E. did you put on? I can't wait to get my cap.

Tom
