 Subject: Water leak

I have a cap on my truck, and the rainy season is just starting where I live.
Water is leaking in around the screws along the bottom of the side windows of the cap.
Should I use a silicon based sealant on this, or would some teflon tape around the screw work?
Anyone experienced this problem? Thanks
