Subject: Fully carpeted beds... IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone have their beds carpeted? I was thinking about doing this, but i wasn't sure where to start. Also, i have the rhino sprayed in, do think this could limit me from doing this?
Let me know. Thanx

Message: I have Linex spray in bed liner and also installed a carpet kit made by leer. You can find these carpet kits at any place that sells toppers. I have the full kit that has carpeted and padded benches that converts to a bed, and also has plenty of storage. I did the spray bed liner first to prevent the carpet kit from scratching the bed. No issues with fit.

Message: I got the steelhorse carpet kit and like it really well. It is underneath a tonneau most the time so it stays clean but is durable enough to throw stuff back there without messing it up. I dont think the spray in liner would have any effect on it. Mina attached using velcro and the glue on the velcro will probabably stick better to the rough rhino surface than it did the painted finish.

Message: Here's a picture of my Leer carpeted topper with a BedRug bed liner. The BedRug does not have the shiny look that appears in the picture, thats just the protectant that they spray on at factory causing that- I also have a piece of carpet to cover over the red strip that remains uncovered in the picture (just havent had the time to put it on) - picture is clickable:

Message: Just putting in my two cents. I have the Bedrug, it took fifteen minutes to install and it looks great.
This picture shows the rug well, but where the bed meets the tailgate, it's sticking up. It can easy be tucked in to look better.

Message: Stepdogg,
I'd go with what Joe_himself presented. It's not hard to cut and size carpet. Plus, you have a never ending amount of carpets and patterns to choose from if you buy your own roll from a carpet warehouse.
If you want a true custom look, do it yourself.

Message: Bedrug shows about 350 bucks for a dak. That's cheap, but everyone and their brother has that.
If you want to stand out and have a custom bed, do it yourself. Spend the extra time to put it in yourself and you'll be rewarded with a one of a kind carpeted bed!

Message: Two cents more. The bedrug cost me $299. The advantage of the Bedrug to a carpeted bed is that the bedrug can be removed and re-installed in 5 minutes total. If you have to carry something in the bed that you wouldn't want on a rug (like old parts), you remove the rug (30 seconds) and re-install in 4 1/2 minutes.

Message: The Bed Rug is the best. The over 1" thick padding is molded to fit perfectly, even between the rails of the floor. It is completely waterproof using closed cell foam.
If you made one from regular carpet it would have to be fully synthetic. Then you have the padding to worry about.

Message: It really depends what you do with your truck.
Dakota Jim made a good point that if want to carry dirty stuff in the back sometimes you can pull the Bedrug out and back in with little hassle.
If you are gonna put speakers back there or don't plan to ever use the back for dirty items (and you can alway put a tarp down anyway) then I still say do it yourself, for a truly custom look.
There is a good argument for both, just depends what you want out of your truck. Either way, you'll have a nice looking carpet. Good luck.

Message: Hey Kevin, (or anyone else with the Checkmate bed carpet kit) How do u like it? I have the checkmate cover, and I'm wondering how nice (quality, look, fit) the carpet kit is. And does anyone have pics of it?
Also, to carpet it yourself, how could u get the carpet to cover the wheel wells?
Thanks alot.

Message: Hey UF Dakota, The bed liner was very easy to install. It comes with velcro tape to use on the sides of the bed and a mat that you can remove on the bottom. I used headliner adhesive to apply the carpet to the sides of the bed.The material is very forgiving to work with. I am no upholstry expert and I think it looks very good. You have to cut the pieces to fit on the sides and let a little hang over the bottom so the mat will overlay it. It looks very good for price. Hope this helps......Kevin
