I just bought a set of the molded splash guards for my Dak. Does anyone know the best way to paint the ram's head on them. I want to leave the splash guard black, and just paint the ram's head.

Thanks

I'd think your best bet would to have a decal made since they are a little more flexible and less prone to cracking do to the flexing of the rubber.

If you do paint them, you need to find a paint with a special additive that will make it flexible when dry. The splash guards bounce and flex and regular paint will chip and crack. I priced paint to paint the entire splash guard and the paint was going to be very expensive so I decided to pass on the idea. You can try your local automotive paint store or a Sherwin Williams that has an automotive section if you want to do it.

I painted the ram heads on my splash guards about 4 years ago. I used a bottle of touch up paint from the dealer. It hasn't cracked or chipped or anything, they still look great. Since the painted layer will be real thin and such a small area, you shouldn't need to worry about using a flex agent. Oh yeah, I used a tooth pick to drop small drops of paint into the indention. Hope this helps.

same here i painted mine about three years ago with dupli-color scratch-fix touch-up that i got at advance auto. no chips or peels, i thought it was going to be a temp thing but it's lasted. i used one of those small tipped brushes they sell in arts & craft sections at wal mart.
