Message: The actuall material is called Gutter Guard. I found it at Home Depot for $1.24 a sheet. Each sheet has two clip on it. The upper inserts in the grill didn't need the clips, but the bumper inserts did. You'ld have to open the clips up a little to get them on, but I haven't had one fall off yet. When I wash the grill inserts I don't apply a lot of pressure so that I don't knock it out.

Message: Took a 10" long, 1/2" round piece of steel, and welded it to the latch so that it will hang down far enough to get to it from between the grill and the bumper (like the full size Ram hood release)

Message: I used the same material to make mine. I didn't used the clips though mine are pop rivited in. Before you install them be sure to buy some clear coat paint and clear coat the gutter gaurd before installing or you will be re doing this in about 1 month. Gutter gaurd only shines for so long then it gets tarnished. then it's just a dull grey grille. I have to redo mine soon

Message: Yeah I thought about that before I put the on, but ended up forgeting about it untill a couple of weeks later. Thinking about taking them out and painting them to match the truck (white). But that will be after I get the grey lower bumper valance painted.

Message: Yeah it does look a lot like the article you published. Wish I had seen that article before I started, your insert setup looks a lot cleaner than mine. Maybe I'll redo it.
Very nice job on your inserts:)
Hey, did you use any type of clear coat on your inserts before you attached them? I've heard that if you don't they tend to dull after a month or so. I didn't and I'm already seeing the dulling start.

Message: Nice install DarkFury, and thanks for the pics, helped me out installin mine. The only thing i think I did differant from you is, I decided to take the whole stock grill off, and then installed gutter guard, made the install easy as pie. One question though, did you have to support the middle of the guard? Mine bows out a little

Message: i've heard that the clear coat spray is actually causing
the gutter guard to dull. i used JB Weld on the bumper
piece to make sure the mesh stayed on. it ended up
drying about the same color as the grey plastic valance.
thanks for posting the pics dakotaman. i've been
looking around for some one who has done this with
the crome grill. i think i'm gunna do it later this month.

Message: Since the gutter guard oxidizes and gets ugly--how bout stainless steel expanded metal-- put "expanded metal" into yahoo search
McNichols was first on the list and they have it in stainless.
Any ideas??Suggestions??Anyone tried it this way??
im gonna try it in the not too distant future as long as it doesnt get to cold to quick here in frozen PA.
