Subject: wider rims in back?
IP: Logged

Message:
I like the american racing thruster rims that are 17's but I don't want 8" wide cuz i already have that, I want wider. I was thinking I could get the 17x8's in the front and 17x 9.5's in the back. The 8" wides have a backspacing of 5.5 and the 9.5" have a 7 inch backspacing. Will these mount relatively flush with each other? I want wider in the back so I can have a higher profile all around and so I can get better traction.

Going to be difficult to do tire rotations, don't you think?

I am willing to suffer a little :)

the corvette has taller rims in back and the viper has wider rims in back. I don't see a problem in switching them side to side.

If I was to get a supercharger It would require more maintenance and more expemsive gasoline. I am willing to not do the "cost effective" thing if it makes my truck better.

If you do get different sizes, don't switch them from side to side. Most radials are not supposed to be turned around like that.

whenever you get into large tire sizes the tires are directional and CANT be driven against the tread or goodbye tires and smooth ride. you would either not rotate, or have to take both tires off and reverse them. look on the side of the tires, they have big arrows and it says rotation for which way it should go

why does the book for my truck tell me to rotate my tires from the front left to the rear right and visa versa, it can't be that bad.
