Subject: Which bed cover to get IP: Logged
Message: Can anyone give me some opinions on which brand and model fiberglass bed cover would look and work best on my 2002 Quad Cab Dak? Thanks for you input. It's much appreciated.

Message: Some of the advice depends on what the goal is. Do you want low profile the shows the least? Want a little lip/spoiler at the back? Want a raised center? etc.
I love mt Gaylords lid. Its very low profile, flat, and well made. Pictures at:

Message: Mark, where did you get that grill insert? That's the kind of grill insert I'm interested in. Something that looks nice, without screaming - look at me.

Message: I made them from Ram grill inserts. I have a brief explanation on my web site at:

Message: Thanks for your input guys. I checked out the Gaylords and they look nice, but I didn't like that they had two locks. I'm going to be accessing the back frequently so it might be too much hassle. I have been leaning toward an A.R.E or a Lorider. I'm looking for one that is low profile, water resistant seal, sits more flush with the body than hang over it, and doesn't have a "T" handle that makes it look home made. And one that's not too darn heavy to lift or shut. How did that rail system on your A.R.E. turn out Tim? Does water get in the bed when you wash your truck?

Message: Look into the GemTop GT Classic, its super low profile and doesnt let ANY water in and has 1 lock, i had one on my s10 and it was awesome! I know have an A.R.E on my dakota and it also does the job pretty good and would also recommend it.
The GemTop is steel and the A.R.E is fiberglass.

Message: i just got a "mountain top" bed cover. made of aluminum diamond plate with an aluminum rail around the perimiter. $900 installed. can hold up to 220 lbs on top. gives a bit more of a tuffer look than a fiberglass one.

Message: A guy in Dallas used to sell them. Maybe he still does. Used to post here as Cyberdak and started a business www.g-forced.com. Last I heard from him he had taken a regular job and I don't know how to get ahold of him. Maybe someone in the Dallas area will still have contact info.

Message: Hey Tim, actually the quote I got was 895 installed. When you add tax it's pretty close to 1000. I guess you answered my question though. It seems that's about the going rate for them. Thanks. I'm in Houston by the way.
