Truck looks great! I'm also looking to do this
to a AWD 2002 Quad 5.9R/T. Is yours stock
2X or 4X4 height? For clearance reasons any
additional info will help in deciding on wheel
sizing for my truck.
For lowering reasons;
If it is stock 4x4 height what is the gap to
fender contact in the front?

mines a 2x4. its looks high because the 275/45/20 tires are 3 inches bigger in diameter than the stock tires and actually lifted my truck 1.5 inches.
the next thing im doing is lowering it a couple inches. probably just 1/3 unless i can go farther w/ these big tires. anybody know how low i can go w/o rubbing??

I have the same situation as you (I'm on 275/45/20s with a QC).
I have about 3.75 inches of clearance between the tire and the fender on the front. I think that if I go ANY lower, it will rub. I did get some R/T springs for the front in case I decide to try to go lower.
Of course the rear has a lot of space above the tires and could go down several inches.
I have thought about lowering the rear (2" ?). However, my truck appears to sit level as it is, on the stock suspension.
I may try to lower the rear 1" at a time and see how it looks. (Maybe using R/T leafs and 1" block.)
What I (we) might consider is finding someone with an R/T that would use the 20s for a while to see how they would work. (R/Ts are reported to be 1" lower, front and rear, than stock 4X2s).
Know anyone with an R/T you would trust with your brand new 20s for a week or so???

hmm how bout you lend someone your 20s for a week and let me know how it rides. lol
i think we would be able to go 1 inch up front. it may(?) rub slightly but i doubt it will be too bad. i was thinking of lowering the back 2 or 3 inches w/ blocks but im not sure how these ride, all i know is that their cheap.

Blakdak01 just wondering if those tires would tuck under the fender. Right now i have a 3/5 DJM drop kit and have a set of 18"s priced out that i like. But if 20's would work fine with my setup i might as well pay the extra and get um.

the goodyear tires were about $170 apiece and that size is the cheapest you can get for some reason. they are pretty big tires and would rub if they were any bigger. i believe i only have about 1 inch up front to lower it w/o rubbing but 2 or 3 in the back. i believe the viper has a different bolt pattern

The reason that tire is so cheap is it is the COMMON tire used on chevys. There is no way to get them to tuck!If you want to tuck a tire you will need a 245 tread width on a 6.25 backspaced 8"rim

They are cheap but not cause they are used on Chevys . . What Chevy has 20's on it??? They are cheap cause Ford has a deal with GoodYear. Those tires come on all the new F150 Harley Davidson trucks. They didn't want to have to tell their customers that in order to replace a tire they would have to give up a leg. I have the same tires and I payed $135 a piece for them on TireRack.com. Best deal you will find and they still leave enough side wall to give a good ride. I have my truck Lowered 2/3 with a Hotchkis Drop and it has rubbed maybe 3 times in the past 6 months. Thats only cause I was driving like an idiot too though.

My point still remains that the reason for the low cost is because of FORDs deal with Goodyear. Therefore they are cheaper so Chevy owners along with anyone else purchasing 20's are more likely to buy them over other 20" tires. I wasn't saying you were retarded . . I was just stating the real reason why the tires were so cheap. Now I am saying your retarded.
