Subject: Painting Engine bay plastic? IP: Logged
Message: Im planning on painting some plastic parts in my engine bay. What is the correct way to paint these parts without the paint peeling, flacking, melting off?
I did some tests on some old platic parts and the paint peels off.
For the most part the platic is not textured but very smooth.

Message: sand it with some sand paper, then prime it, then paint it.

Message: You should also try some adhesion promoter under the primer, it helps paint stick to things like plastic. Maybe some high temp. paint too.

Message: What grit sand paper should I use?
For the primer and promoter, is there a certain type I should use for the plastic, or just use any type?
