Subject: R/T Dakota Exhaust Options? IP: Logged
Message: Group:
I am having trouble finding what exhaust system I want. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations/experience for what I should get for my truck.
I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota R/T Standard Cab 5.9 liter.
I want to get a performance exhaust that sounds like a big V8 engine should. A nice DEEP
RUMBLE..... 8-) I want it to be a REAR SIDE exhaust. I like the factory appearance. Dual Rear Side is also OK.
Any ideas, or recommendations are greatly appreciated !
Thanks
Mark

Message: i've heard alot of R/T owners discuss this. From what i have heard, the stock R/T exhaust outflows the flowmaster. I know that with a few miles the stock sytem gets a more mellow note. Really don't have a good answer for you as I have been thinking about this for my 2000 R/T CC. I've got 20,000 on mine and the sound keeps gettn' better. Got a friend with a 97 Ram SS/T, stock exhaust, 74,000, and it sounds X.

Message: I have a 99 R/T CC and the sound has hit a point that I like. When I start the truck it is very strong! It dosen't have that loud bite that I hate. I have been very pleased with stock. I have changed some other things but not the exhaust.

Message: Hey Jeke,I e-mailed MBRP and asked them about a price for stainless steel under the rear bumper for a 2001 Dakota Quad w/5.9 and he mailed me back with a price of $709.00 U.S.I don't mind spending a couple bucks on a good exhaust but thanks crazy.

Message: MBRP SPECIALIZES IN THE DAKOTA APPLICATIONS. AND YES THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CURRENCIES!!! ASK FOR A QUOTE IN AMERICAN DOLLARS!! THE KIT COMES I ENOUGH PIECES THAT YOU DON'T NEED A LIFT TO INSTALL IT. THE BIGGEST PAIN IS GETTING OFF THE STOCK EXHAUST....

Message: 98,99 R/T's had Dynomax ultra-flo on them from the factory. 00,01 R/T's have Chryslers own high-flow mufflers on them. I installed a Mopar cat-back on my Dakota which is for the R/T, you can get them at the dealership.
Dodge dynoed a stock R/T with the stock muffler and then redynoed it with the Mopar Cat-Back, the result was 13hp gain at the rear wheels.
I love this exhaust, it perfect. It's loud when you want it to be, no droning on the highway and quiet inside it just purrrssssss.
I also found it to be cheaper than the other systems.
Check it out at my site www.geocities.com/intense79/index.html

Message: my advise is go with the Gibson split rear system I have it on my 99 slt ext. cab w/ the 5.2L and it sounds great the stainless was 430.00 shipped to my dooor from carparts.com and it took 1-11/2 hours with a friends help. The MBRP is nice but very spendy.
