The Brown Truck just dropped off 3 of my 20" Boyd wheels. The guy didn't have a clue as to where the fourth one is. Well fine!! He said they would try to find the box and bring it later today.

The rims are used and look really good except for one which has a slight bend on the outer front edge/lip :(

I think I might try do straighten it with a block of wood and a hammer. I guess I could file a claim with UPS and see if they would repair it. They would probably claim that it wasn't packaged correctly (packed by seller, not UPS). YOu can tell that the damage was caused in shipment due to the damage to the box and the plastic wrapping around the wheels.

I also got two tires size 45/40/20s. Man talk about rubber bands!!!! Those tires are only about three inches thick!!!

I am thinking I will have to get bigger tires than these. However, until I decide how much I am going to lower my DAK, I won't know how big of a tire I can get.

I'll probably post for some tire advice later.

you should see my 35 series...lol

dont sweat the bend. if you cant really notice it, i would just roll on it. if you really want to fix it, or if you happen to bend one bad, go to a wheel shop. there is a place that i go to that charges $65 to fix them and they usually pollish the wheel when its done. wich kinda sucks becuause i have to polish the rest..lol

Dakaty,
If the box is damaged, I would definately file a claim with UPS. I can't believe the rims would be packed in a damaged box, so that is then UPS' responsibility. All you can do is try and see what you get. Just my opinion.

I took my rims to "Rocky Roads, a rim shop in the Houston area that sells and repairs rims for Discount Tires. Tom, the Owner, was sympathetic to my situation and checked out all the rims. He and his staff determined that all four were bent (two severly) and two had small cracks in them.

According to Tom, UPS would not be liable for damage as: virtually none of the damage occured during shipping and the rims were not packed in proper boxes and adequately padded. The boxes were only single walled with the rims right against the cardboard. It was obvious to him that the damages were caused while in use on a vehicle.

After I cried and moaned, he said he would fix all of them as best he could (could not guarantee them) for $200 (minimum). What a good deal!! I called the Seller who was very surprised at the severity of the damage. The Seller agreed to pay $160 of the repairs.

So far I've spent $1100 on the Rims, $100 shipping, $45 in mounting/dismounting charges and now another $40 to get them straightened.

Now all I have to do is spend another $1000 or so getting tires.

And I thought engine mods were expensive....

BTW, I will probably be selling 2 Goodrich 245/40ZR/20s with good rubber.

At least your seller was willing to pay for some of the repair, some is better than nothing. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.
