 Subject: Painting Alloy wheels?

Has anyone ever painted the Alloy factory wheels on a '96 model Dakota sport? The clear coat is peeling and looks like crap and i'm wondering how to fix them, i'm thinking of sandblasting them an spraying them with gloss black polyurethane wheel paint, but i'm worried about how well it will stick.

That's an option, but I'm looking for something i can do at home, cheap. I know eastwood has the powdercoat kits i'll have to see what they cost.
