I think I've tried about everything, and called just about everyone. I can't seem to find 20" rims to fit my 2000 dodge dakota R/T with the right backspacing/offset to tuck, and for the right price*...Anyone with a Dodge Dakota out there on 20's that are tuckin, please help me out. Let me know what rims you have, and if you can the price and where you got them. I would GREATLY appreciate it. Dak owners please, I am desperate!!!!! I need rims!!! Thanks everyone,

Try Superbuytires.com that is where I ordered some 18" Alba Berthas yesterday. They are pretty helpful. If I am not mistaken he said Alba's come in 20's too. They have high positive offsets on there wheels and they carry Boze wheels too. Boze is supposed to special make rims that will tuck on our trucks. Good luck it is hard just to find any rim to tuck on a Dakota. You almost feel like you have accomplished something when you get a set.

what do you mean by "tuck"? if you mean you want the wheel well to cover a portion of the rim, its not going to happen unless you do some cutting. not because of the offset of the rim, but because the wheel well is shallow....VERRY SHALLOW

if you mean you want them tucked into the body, so they dont stick out passed the fender, its easy. any billet rim company can make you some rims, and yes the alba's will work. my friend has some on his dakota

I am trying to do the second thing you said. I currently have sticky outies as IF customs puts it. The fender makes marks on my tires sidewall if I try to lower it while driving.

Eric, what would it take then to tuck 20" wheels
(fender covering part of the wheel)? Would you be able to tuck a 9" wide wheel in the rear without narrowing the rearend? I know you would have to tub it. What about the front with an 8" or 8.5" wide? Thanks.

its not the width that matters (to a extent). you can get a 7" wide rim and not be able to tuck it, and you neighbor can have a 10" wide rim and tuck it. you have to get the right offset.

on a 8" wide rim, you need 6 1/4" of backspacing for the rim to sit back far enough into the well to tuck. (if you are running 20's you will need to trim the lip of the fender to actually tuck it though)

the widest you can go on the rear is 10" and about 8"-8 1/2" on the front.
the wider you go in width, add that to the BS of the rim
example: on a 10" wide rim, you will need 8 1/4" of backspaceing. the rim will be wider, but the lip will stay the same.

let me know if you dont understand any of this.

also, have you bought rims yet? how much are you spending, and what syle are you going for?
i MIGHT be selling my rims and tires in the near future. if you are interested let me know.

Thanks Eric, that makes perfect sense. One last question, are those backspacing numbers and calculations the same if it was 22's in the rear? To answer your question, no i haven't bought rims or bagged it yet. I'm trying to figure out everything in my head before i start(hopefully someday soon), that way i only have to do things once. Thanks again!

kanter, that sounds like a good deal. lol

Jake, the backspaceing numbers aply to any size wheel. also, you are planning you "attack" on your truck the smart way. a close friend of mine likes to spend money before he plans things out, and sofar he has bagged his truck twice and painted it twice.

some more words of advice. when you bagg it, get the good compressors, valves, and a nice size line. 9 out of 10 people say "i just want it to go up and down" and when they get it, they are like " damn, i wish it was faster" and they are the same people who get the cheap compressors and wonder why they burn out 4 months later.
spend the cash on the good parts once, insted of buying cheap parts over and over again.

sorry for rambling on.

Well I finally found something. It seems that I've been searching forever and ever and I think I found something from boyd that is in my price range. Since I'm going to bagg my truck soon I wanted to get something that would tuck. I don't like the 18 and 20" combo so I talked to a few people and asked about 19" in front and they said that it would be close, but it would work. So I'm trying to make a deal with this guy for some Boyd Coddington Turbos. (2) 19x8" and (2) 20x8.5 in the back. Without rubber I think I can get them for under 1,700.00. This guy is being great and helping me out a lot. I just want to make sure that this combo will work... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again
Mike

P.S. would it be better to go wider in the rear or is 20x8.5 ok????
thanks again....

if you are going to go wider in the rear, go to a 9 1/2 or 10. the only draw back about going wider in the rear is, you cant rotate the tires. but with 19's and 20's you cant rotate them anyway, so i'd do it.
