Subject: Ko's new tire sizes IP: Logged
Message: I just purchased the July 2002 issue of Four Wheeler Mag. and there is new
tire sizes from BF GOODRICH in the KO and KM tires, I will list the KO here.
245x70x16 / 255x70x16 / 265x70x16 / 275x70x16 / the 275x70x16 is 180.00
each, Now how much lrgr in diameter is the 275x70x16 than the 265x75x16
Maybe this new size will work better on the 4x4 Dak. I will get 150.00 trade
in for my Goodyears off my Dak 4x4 with 9700 miles on them ,not bad. The
275x70x16 I am going to look into this size..

Message: I saw the same adds, and actually looked into this.
Actually, the 275/70/16 is smaller in overall diameter than a 265/75/16. Even though the tread width is a little bigger, the aspect ratio is still 70. It will be only a little larger and wider than the 265/70/16 tire that comes with the 4x4 tire & handling group. In order to make up for the 5% difference in aspect ratio, you need to increase the tread width by 20mm. A 285/70/16 (unfortunately not a common size, and not available in BFG's...I've seen this size available for the Bridestone HTS) is equivalent in diameter to a 265/75/16.
Here's a question, though.. Has anyone squeezed 285/75/16 tires on the factory rims w/out modifying? Maybe a little trimming of the front air dam?
