Message: Im a 16 year old, and I have been introduced to the world of Dodge. I defend my precious 96' Dakota club cab against all types of opposition (i.e. S10's, Ranger's, Frontier's, etc.)and I will always defend Ram's against anything(especially those darn Tundra's), but anyway...I feel that my truck needs customization. I got my first taste in this with a small Turbo muffler enhancement...and I want more. I would like you experienced guys to give me some good ways to accomplish my dream. I would like to add a 3-4 inch body lift, a cd player/changer, duel exhaust(the chrome matches my bed rails!!) and possibly some form of square subs to fit in the standard Dodge speaker space in the extended cab. I've also heard that Duel's give a 15% horsepower increase...well frankly I'd like to know someway to further enhance my 3.9 liter V-6. If ya'll could give me some suggestions as to which brands...(i.e. Flowmaster for the Duel's) that would be great...oh yeah..one more thing...what is the maximum tire size that the transmission on a Dakota (automatic) can handle...I want to put some bigger ones on there, but I dont know how much the beast can take...or that will look good with a lift??? SO if ya'll could help that would be great...the truck guy in me is just itching to get out!!!

Message: well, as far as the lift goes, no one makes a 4" body lift and would be horrible if they did (dont want to go into that). as for tires, whatever you can fit you can handle as long as you change the gears, your performance will be about the same. thats if you are willing to pay for that

Message: On the stereo...I've been looking into doing some upgrades on mine, but haven't done any yet, so anything I say is based off what I've found online and in my service manual. You might be able to add a CD changer fairly easily to your stock head unit if you don't have the Infinity stereo. Mine came with the Infinity, and I can't add a changer that will be controlled through the head unit. I think all the other ones DC installed have the CD changer controls on them. For subs, the MTX Thunderform (I think that's the name) has 2 10 inch subwoofers that fit into a new plastic housing under the rear seats. It's available with or without an amp, and provides a little bin and straps for the jack hardware. It looks like a really clean installation and you won't lose any space in back, but I have no idea what they sound like. I've seen it on Crutchfield.com
On the exhaust...I've got a gibson single side exit on mine, and I really like it. Really nice mellow sound, and not loud. They also make duals. Whatever you choose, just watch the diameter of the pipes...I've heard that on duals going any larger than about 2.5 inches will cause a loss of low end torque.

4 10" Image Dynamic subs
Orion NTense 6.5" components
I had to lose the backseat though but I didn't mind. That's why I bought an extended cab! Sounds great but don't forget the Dynamat. I hate buzzes and rattles.
I started with a flowmaster. I didn't go with duals though. I have a V6 and you want some back-pressure or you will lose torque. Next was a K&N Gen 2 cold air intake. If budget won't allow then just go with the cone filter alone. JBA headers are pricey but will help the motor breath.
Go to Bernd's site. It helped me out quite a bit. His truck is a little too tall for me though 8>) Mine is dropped 2-4 so I can't help with the tires. Have fun
