Has anyone here shaved their truck? I'm looking at doing everything but am unsure about a couple of things since this will be my first attempt at such a project. I want to shave the antenna off but can I get one that mounts somewhere indescrete, like on the frame or something, so it will not be noticeable and I could still listen to the radio? Also what kind of kits have you all used for the doors (what pound solenoids?) Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks! -Laz

I've been doing a little searching my self on this subject. I'm going to get more info. on it before I say anymore, But I'll let you know what I'm going to do when I do it.. And how well it works!

you can get an antenna that mounts in the glass on the window probably the rear one and for shavng doors you should go with at least 50 lb solinoids

Ive been told by the people who installed my alarm system in my truck that ANY window tint will limit the effectivness of any antennas, be it an alarm, CB or radio antenna. Just something to think about before you mount the antenna in a tinted window.
Here's a thought (one I'll likely get flamed for) instead of window mounting it, or getting an exspensive grille guard. Could you not mount the antenna in the front grill? I mean it would look better than stock and if you did it right you could have an antenna that was 4 or 5 time longer than the one you have now. Just a thought though...

I have a friend who has a 98 passport completely shaved and bagged. he hates the fact he did it, it looks tight but if the battery in your remote dies your strandad the popper brakes your strandad.
he's been towed 6 times in about a year so get AAA

Have a manual switch hidden out side the vehical!

sounds like you friend has got a bad set up in his pass port if things keep breaking, if you could tell what kind of things he used just so I can take that into consideration when I buy it would be great, thanks

something else you might try for when your battery goes dead is to set up a set of terminals in the bed thatconnect to the battery so you can jump it.it works well for me.just a thought.

I've shaved a few vehicles before...
I've found that using the factory antenna works fine, I just mount it to the inside of the fenderwell. I haven't found the need for an antenna booster but I live close to the city. I've had mixed results with the hot rod style antnnas. As far as door poppers, 50# should be sufficient. I've found putting a "manual" release for the door solonoids (mounted to the frame/inside the wheelwell) is a good idea if you plan to use a remote to pop the doors...

Thanks for the info everyone I'm going to get a kit with the 50 lb solenoids and amanual release for emergencies as soon I can find the right one. As for the antenna I'm still undecided but I think I might just put it inside the fender well. On another note what about a tailgate handle relocator, I've done some looking at mine and is a kit really necesary or can I just get away with cutting my own sheet metal and putting that on the inside because it looks like thats all the kits are? The tailgate relocator kit from Sir Michaels is real nice, sturdy and worth the money (and worth saving yourself the headache). I've used them before and they're built to last.
