Message: as this may keep your rims a bit cleaner, i have heard from past dakota owners that brake dust guards heat up your rotors extremely hot and in some cases melted parts of the pads to the rotor. my buddy put them on his truck and now his rotors are warped form the heat. just heard from a few past owners that they arent great.

Message: OOOOH, could those be uncoated aluminum? That's what my AR Bajas are made of. It can always be done, but you'll just usually feel like your arms are about to fall off when you're done.
For mine it takes really REALLY REALLY agressive scrubbing with car wash then hand polishing. Tried a wheel brush, didn't work that well. Actually used an old tooth brush at one point, that worked pretty well but still took lots of work. I'm now tired of it, and anything that doesn't come off with a couple minutes of scrubbing with car wash will get attacked the drill and power-ball combo from here on in.

Message: try wheel cleaner spray: Meguiars, Eagle 1, or Mothers, and a soft rag..
I just use good car soap on painted wheels, or the spray specifically for Aluminum wheels on my billet aluminum wheels. Finish it off with some Wax As You Dry spray and they last a lil longer clean.

Message: and if its real bad, you need polish...for billet wheels the best I have tried is the Mothers Billet Metal Polish..works way better than a regular metal polish.

Message: I have had problems with brake dust on wheels but only when I have to wait to long to change the pads.
If you're broke and need a cleaner for chrome or aluminum mix water with dirt (mud) and it will make an abraisive that will remove rust, with some elbow grease.
I have'nt found anything I could just spray on, but I will try the Wesley White Wall Cleaner.

Message: If you have chrome wheels then the best (and cheapest) choice would be old fashioned steel wool. While it does require scrubbing (rubbing) every inch of the the rims, it is amazily easy to do. Not much elbow greese required at all. It will NOT scratch chrome - but polish.
I just cleaned 5 years of dust off my 2001 town & country and it took less then 1 hour (yeah, it's a work vehicle and i'm sorta lazy).
I have not seen or found a spray on cleaner that works (although I would love to).
Alloy - don't really know about that...
But chrome, steel wool.

Message: For anybody using the steel wool advice- Use the finest steel wool you can find. 0000 (four zeros) is the finest I can get where I live, and instead of using just steel wool, apply some automotive wax to the steel wool before using. It does work beautifully and will not scratch your chrome. Also, if you have lots of cemented-on bug guts on your windshield, spray with window cleaner and then use the steel wool to scrub them off. Press firmly, not hard, and you will have a like-new windshield.

Message: ALUMINUM FOIL!!!!!!
I use any of the above cleaners and I also take aluminum foil and wrinkle it up into whatever shape you need and scrub away. I recommend testing a spot first. My rims are alloy and it does no bother them. Aluminum foil works great for cleaning all kinds of stuff.
