Subject: rattling under the truck (by subs) IP: Logged
Message: i was wondering if anyone else had the same problem as me? i have the mtx thunderform w/2 10s and when it hits the whole truck rattles on the underside. are there any solutions other than dynamat? its pretty annoying. the sound is coming from around the underside right under where the box is located (toward end of the cab) on the underside.
Thanks

Message: the same exact thing happened to me when I installed the thunderform in my 98. I fixed it without dynomat. It was one of two things that I did: I went through and retightened all the bolts holding the box down, and I took the jack out of that middle spot they made for it. I think it had something to do with both of those things. the bolts did seem loose (I didn't install it to begin with) and there is no way to secure the jack enough to stop it from vibrating against the sheet metal. I just put it in the bed and tied it in. no more vibration.

Message: paul thanks for the suggestions but i dont think that the jack or bolts are the problem. i installed it myself and made sure all the bolts are tight and i wrapped the jack and lined the jack housing in thick cotton. the noise is coming from underneath the truck, it is heard from the outside.

Message: Try the heat shield for the catalytic converter, if you have one (it might've been discontinued as one of those "cost-cutting" features).

Message: its not the cat heat shield either. i took a peek and it wasnt the prob. i guess i will have to take it to the local rip off car audio shop and have them give it their touches. that is if i cant figure it out myself or with anyone elses help.

Message: I had the same rattling from under my truck. Although, I don't have a sub. Took it to the dealer and it was the sheet metal guarding the gas tank. All they did was pull it down and the rattle is gone.

Message: I know you guys were discussing this 2 years ago.. but I have same issue.. did anyone figure it out. Mine is vibrating under the passenger side subwoofer. Sounds like it is coming right form the speaker area. Pulled out the jack and even went and bought new speaker cause I thought mine may have been blown. Same thing.
Anyone resolve the issue??
