Subject: Rim Question

Message:
I'm trying to decide on what type of rims to get, but i need some help. I'm planning on getting 18's and width isn’t important. It's just that I have a 3/4" drop on my truck & I don’t want the rims to stick out (especially since i don’t have the fender flairs). I know some of ya'll have the filament & backspacing measurements to help me out. And maybe some suggestions on brand of rims to buy.

thanks
Ben

My American Racing rims are 18x8 with 5.5" backspacing and 25mm offset and they don't stick out past the fenders on my Dak (no flares) with 10" wide tires.

I would recommend you going with either a 26" tall tire, about 6.5" backspacing or both because of the amount of your drop. But when you decide on a wheel, talk to the manufacturer and they should be able to "fine tune" to your application.

As for what type/brand of rims, I would recommend anything chrome. Chrome is a lot easier to care for than polished billet and chrome rims tend to be able to handle more road abuse (potholes and such).

Thanks Chuck.

About 3 months ago i bought some Chrome AR Nitros off ebay.... what a mistake. The stick out like 1/2-3/4 from the truck. I'll be puttin them back up for auction soon.
But whatever i do decide on will be chrome & i'll consult a dealer.
