Has anyone seen any custom graphics on a dakota? I have contacts in a vinyl shop and am in the process of designing graphics for my white truck... anyone have any links to some cool looking designs?
and if anyone wants vinyl decals, lemme know... i can probably get you something nice and cheap.

vinal graphics look HORRABLE on any car. IMHO. get them painted on if you do ANY graphics
paint is more $$ but, if you can to it right, dont do it at all

Any reason why you think vinyl is horrible? I put vinyl racing stripes on one of my cars and the vinyl outlasted the paint.

the vinal i dull compaired to the paint, unless you put a clearcoat over it.
if you are thinking of something like flames or ANY type of graphic for that matter, it looks SOOO much better if you shadow it with a airbrush. you cant do that with vinal. well you can but it will be REALLY stupid.
vinaly just looks too 2 dimincinal, while paint looks 3 dimincinal.

auh contraire... I airbrush vinyl... I use only premium vinyl and it is just as glossy as paint. Trust me on this, I worked with vinyl for 5 years and did LOADS of fleet graphics. It all looked great, except for that train i did... (now i moved on into the computer business).
If done correctly, it will look just as good as paint... and can be taken off in 1 year and something else can be done.

No, you couldn't do that in vinyl... it would melt.

they look nicely airbushed and they are stinking prefabs... not even original work...
Here's a texture that I MADE about 4 years ago and put it on a clipboard... there are two textures... crupled paper and water dropplets.

Anything that can be painted can be painted on vinyl and clearcoated... it wont last as long as paint but it is not permenant as well. So each can look just as good. (premium vinyl last 7 years).

hahaha...lol, i didnt mean can you do it in a engine compartment. i was using the flames as an example of detail. the flames overlap eachother and it looks verry 3D
for an example, on flames, you would have to airbrush under the flame onto the paint of the vehicle for shadowing the graphic.

Oh, I didn't know what you wre talking about. True, some things can't be done that can with paint... but you said that vinyl is horrible and it is definately not... it's just your opinion. I've seen some really nice vinyl graphics done on cars. Once I do mine, i will post a pic or two.

when i think of vinal graphics, i think of all of these import cars, with vinal stickers and graphics on them like in "fast and the furious".
you are right, it is MY OPINION. you seem a lot on the defenceive side, like you were already going to do it to your truck no matter what anyone said. if this is the case, why did you ask for opinions?

sheesh, read my first post... i was asking if anyone has seen any or has links to any designs... NOT, do you like them? ...of course i was going to do it... like i said, i'm in the process of designing some.

you can do anything you want with vinal.. i work at a vinal shop and i could make you graphics that look exactly like those pictures.. evertime i put graphics on a vehicle i always clear cote it ..a it makes it look better... and b it protects the vinal... i would go for vinal that way in 3 or 4 years when you want to change the look of your vechile it isnt that hard... i have a 99 dodge dakota and i tried to find ideals for my truck and it was hard but it looks cool now i put flams on it and it loks awasom!!!!! if you send my a design ill take a look at it and see what i can do about getting you some vinal...

for the most part i agree with you eric(kota). Even though i'm running vinal flames on my ride. untell i shave my handles and change the lights, it's the easiest solution for my part. Personally i love them . i've switched them around and am getting ready to switch it up again. you can't do that with paint. Flames no matter how they are after awhile you just get burnt out on them and want to change it alittle. In my case i can. Ok on the other hand when you see all the shopping carts(honda's,mazda's, etc) i just look at them and have to say what the F**K were u thinking. check out the flames and let me know what u think

Oh, by the way... I took the graphics off... and glad I did. The sun was shrinking them and leaving adhesive on the paint... took a long time to get rid of all the dried adhesive.
Next time I do vinyl, I'll get some premium vinyl.
Hey, acp2002... if I send you a vector file (eps?) then can you cut out some small dodge logos and mail them to me (some 1", 2" 3")?

i just got done yanking off my flames today. The vinal was a piece of cake. no problems. just took a little wax to remove the lines. and nothin at all. i'll take a pic tomarrow and post with and without. tell me your opinions. I think it just looks bland now. wait tell you see my new ones. you'll like them.
