I have two 6x9's in boxes behind the seats of my 98 DAK Sport and was wondering if anyone knows if they would give better bass being seals, like they are now, or ported?
Any ideas Bernd or Krawdaddy?

first question is, is it a rc or cc? If it is a rc I have 2 - 12" JL Audio W1's behind my seat and I have gotten plenty of bass out of those! If you would like to see a pic go to:

Sealed should give deeper bass. Also, you might try stuffing the boxes with poly-fill. It makes the box seem bigger and creates deeper bass.

They are in the curved backed boxes. what is good to stuff them with?
98SPRTV6 I saw yours and like it. I dont think it would work in mine since I have to put the seats all the way back.

Why do you have to have your seats all the way back? How tall are you? You could always go with 2 - 10's and get smaller boxes, because even with the seats all the way back you would be suprised how much room you actually have back there!

always better to go with sealed boxes IMHO. Stuff whatever behind the seat that you can comfortably drive with. I had 3 10's behind the seat of my 90 Dak.. my right leg would go numb after 30 minutes of driving because of the position of the seat. I am 6'
I have a bazooka now.. I am more into home theatre type of bass, like when you have a home theatre type system that involves 5 cubes and a sub. I miss my JL's alot, but my bazooka does fine.. I always recommend them for someone looking to add bass.. not to be a basshead =] (been there, done that)
to answer your question, seal them and do polyfil like some others say.. you can get poly fil at walmart in the arts and crafts section.. real cheap

I've got one 10" sub in my '97 RC Sport and I love it! It gives plenty of bass. You could do another one behind the passenger seat just as easily. I just stuck with one though. You will probably have to have a box custom built because I couldn't find a pre-made one that fit right. I built one and now I can slide my seat just about all the way back. It's only about 2 notches from being all the way back. I can give you the dimensions if you want. Mine is .5 cu. ft. but it could be made quite a bit wider if you need a bigger box. I just stuffed mine with polyfil though.

dakota98sp, I'll have to get the dimensions for you when I get home tonight. I don't have them here with me. My amp is a Bostwick 4100. A lot of people have never heard of them but that's all I run. It's 100w X 4ch. I have my Bostwick seperates in the doors running on the front 2 channels and my Bostwick XL10 bridged on the back 2 channels. I love the way it sounds. The amp has what Bostwick calls a "B.A.M" which is a knob that you can mount just about anywhere that allows you to turn the sub gain down and still have the overall volume up. It works great when changing from a CD to the radio where there isn't as much bass. Believe me that one 10 will rock though. It hits hard enough that I have to turn it down when I'm watching a movie in my truck cause it makes the heads in the VCR vibrate which makes the picture on the TV screen flicker! I know this was long but I hope it helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

i was just wondering, i have a mtx thunderform with the 2 10s and wanted to know if i stuffed the whole box with polyfill would it make a difference, also the box is hollow throughout(if i remember correctly) so would i stuff it completely full? all the way up to the speakers or leave some room?

Usually when you stuff a box you should stuff it pretty tight. I'm not sure how the Thunderform is built though.
