Subject: Stull Billet Grille and Frame IP: Logged
Message: I just purchased the Stulle Billet Grille and Grille Frame Model 8108-P. Man, was it a b**ch to install! The instructions that came with it SUCKED. I was missing parts when the grille arrived. A call to Stulle and they promptly shipped me replacements - kudos for customer service. 4 hours and several modifications it went in. Looks sick but damn, the install could have been engineered a bit more cleaner. Definitely NOT worth the headache and $300!

Message: second2n0ne, I put the same set-up on my
truck last summer and I couldn't agree more.
A real pain in the a$$. FYI, after one MN winter,
the billet bars have started to look rough so
polish often. It do look good though!

Message: Demon, thanx for the tip. What do you use for polish? I live in socal so I don't think my grille will be exposed to the same road conditions but you never know! I already have a few scuffs from the installation!!
Lesley, the grille looks great once installed. If you are looking for show quality, think again. The hardware for the install is a hit and miss. I had to modify their instructions several times to get a less than perfect fit. Stulle did help me out each time I called and I have nothing but good to say about their customer service. Has anyone modified the oem grille by cutting out the crossbars and fashioning their own version? Please post pics!

Message: second2n0ne,
I've had good luck with Meguiars Metal
Restorer and just tried Mothers new Incredible
Billet Polish. Both get the job done. What
problems did you have with this set-up? I had
to elongate the holes in the hood so the grill
would line up and I had to grind out the back of
a few billet bars so they didn't hit the hood
latch. I ran the hood release horizontal so all I
have to do is push it to the right a little to pop
the hood.

Message: Demon, Where do I start?!...I ended up mounting the billet behind the frame brace. I have no idea how the hood latch release mounts because I didn't receive the correct parts (twice!). I had to grind the inside of the engine compartment because the grille frame brace caught it when the hood closes. I redrilled 3 holes where the billet mounts to the frame because nothing lined up. I could make no sense of the photocopied instructions. The instructions didn't even reference the photos! Looks great from the outside but I am ashamed to show anyone the inside! Sounds like you had better luck or were able to interpret the instructions better! Thanks for the Meguire's tip. What do you suggest for the minor scratches I got on the billet from the install?

Message: First, make sure your grill isn't clear coated. If
the scratches are not too deep try some 0000
steel wool. If that doesn't work, some 600 wet
dry sandpaper(use it wet) will get the scratch
out. Then polish the area a couple off times.
My grill wasn't clear coated so I'm assuming
yours isn't either. I've got a digital camera and
would take some shots of my installation if it
would help you out. Let me know.

Message: Cool, thanks for that bit of info! I would like to see the inside of your installation if you don't mind. You can mail them to mail@rastavibes.com if you can't post them for some reason. Much appreciated.

Message: I would have to agree about the Stull grill install. I recieved the grille in the mail and I was really pumped, but now I'm just PISSED. I finally got the SOB to hang flush with te stock grille shell, but now my hood will not close. I was checking the internet for better instructions and I have found nothing thus far. I guess I will just start cutting and drilling like a mad man until it closes correctly. Thanks for the info, if I knew this before hand I would think twice about Stull Grilles.

Message: Sean,
Before you start cutting and drilling try adjusting your hood. There are two bolts on each hinge. Loosen them up a little, this will allow you to slide your hood foward. This may give you the clearence you need. I belive you can adjust it at least a 1/2 inch or so. Just make sure you slide each side up the same distance so your hood will stay centered. That can be a bit tricky.

Message: I got mine to fit. But it was a #&&^*@(!!!! I did have to trim a bit off the bars on each side. You also have to cut out the middle frame brace. Then line it up drill 2 holes for the top. Screw them in. Then for the bottom line them up drill them and i used 1/2 inch spacers. Turned out fine. U can check it out here. http://www.sounddomain.com/id/daksport2000
