The clear plastic piece just snaps off. Be careful not to crack it though tryin to get it off. They put it on pretty good.

I had a lite under the hood of my last truck (GMC SAFARI) that was on a retractable cord. It also had a magnet on it and it would reach the back of the truck.You could stick it anywhere on the truck if you had trouble at nite. Don't know why all vehicles don't use them.Can't cost that much.

I purchased the light from Dodge parts,tell them ya need the under hood light from a 2k Dakota.there wiring loom is seperate for 20.00 I used my wire and some connectors, and a inline 5 amp fuse. and loom harness connectors to hold it to the hood. and did the wireing myself, i am into it for a measly 15.00 and it looks like the factory did it.
