Subject: Power Window/Door Lock Conversion
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi All,

I have already looked at the following thread related to this:

http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/style/171.html

I had another question (I wanted to broach it to a wider audience):

Is the Internal Door itself different for Power Window/Door Locks than for Manual Window/Door Locks (2002 Dakota Sport).

More to the point...If I wanted to do a conversion with Dodge parts (Door Panels, window motors, lock actuators)...would the Door itself need any modification.

The reason i ask is that I have an option to buy all these parts (in good condition from a junkyard) for cheap money. I didn't care about them when I bought the truck...but if they are being offered to me...and i can do it without replacing the doors themselves...what the hell.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Petey

There are alot of people that would like to do the same. As far as the door being the same I think that it would pretty much be the same, just the stock wiring is pretty complicated because they use alot of relays and things. You'd probably be better off to go the aftermarket route and there are alot of good kits out there, you just have to look and use your own judgment as to what quality you want and what the budget will allow. I have a 2000 Quad Cab that is a 4x4 that came with everything but power windows locks and keyless entry that the dealer added on for me. Parts and labor and all for $1000.00 which wasn't bad for about 9 hours worth of work. Unless you can figure some way to make it all work without all the relays because I think they do that to cut down on wiring so that there will be less wiring inside the door.
