Subject: What Happened? IP: Logged
Message: When i installed my clear corners up front i
imediately bought amber led's to achive the
ultimate clear effect. When i put those in, my
signals started to blink really fast. i put up with
it. But now i have clear tails with the led's in
them too. Now my signals just don't work at
all. They come on but stay on as if they were
stuck, and it makes this annoying buzzing
sound. They just may be going so fast that i
can't even tell, but i don't know. i need help
deciding what it is and what to do. Thanx.

Message: There is a blinker module that is in your fuse box. The led lights that you put in there require more voltage than that module will allow. Its acting like it would if you put a trailer on and hooked up the lights. Your best option is to look for a heavy duty blinker module to replace the stock one. I had to do that in my Gen II dak that I had.

Message: It's a standard heavy duty flasher unit. You should be able to pick one up at the local Pep Boys/Auto Zone/Napa, or even Wal-mart. You'll find them in the lighting section and it'll say it right on the package.
They're pretty cheap, usually a couple bucks, and very easy to install. Just find the stock one in fuse/relay compartment under the hood and replace it. They pop right out.
02 QC 4x4, 5.9L/auto, 3.92/LSD, Leather buckets, SLT Plus.

Message: You guys are correct that he needs a new flasher, but not because LEDs use more current, it's because they use less. They make self-adjusting flasher modules now that are able to determine how much load is being applied and automatically adjust.
Good luck

Message: I work at a heavy-duty truck parts store (big rigs) and we sell them there. I don't think they're expensive at all, but I'll check prices on Monday and see exactly how much one costs. I'm sure you could find one at a local auto-parts store.
