Subject: Decal removal IP: Logged
Message: I'm getting ready to pull the sport decals off my 99 ex-cab Dak. I'm just afraid it's gonna show where the paint has fadded. It's a 99 and it's white so I don't figure it will show bad if at all. I've even got a buddy who works at a paint shop who can buff it back out if it does. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

Message: I dont think it will show where the paint has faded. I just took the decals off my 02 Dak 4x4. I would just wash, wax and buff just incase. But my truck looks great.

Message: When taking the decals off..using the 3M wheel that goes on a drill. Like a giant eraser, and works like magic.
Used it to take the 'Dakota Sport' badges off mine this weekend. I tried goop-off = Nope. Tried peeling w/hair-dryer = Nada.
Wheel took all of 5 minutes maybe. Everything comes off. Sweet.
Cost $26, but it's well worth in IMO.
My truck is only 6 months old,,so there was no fading. I used Meguire's wax to be sure.

Message: Thanks guys, we'll see how this weekend goes. Thats when I'm gonna pull em'. Was gonna do it last weekend after I put my chrome step bars on. Those plans were shot after the bolts weren't long enough since I've got a body lift on it. After calling 10 major suppliers and 5 or so smaller stores I finally found bolts I didn't have to order. One place was even gonna charge me $50 to put these bolts on order. If any of you have body lifted your Dak and then put steps on you may have a real hard time finding bolts. If so call-(317)637-6468 UTTERBACK SUPPLY FASTENERS=$2.48 each. Where did you get that 3M wheel. I haven't looked for them yet, but I will. Thanks again.

Message: I got 'the wheel' from Auto parts plus. Any car parts store 'SHOULD' have it.
