Not a shaker post sorry!
BUT, I just got home (Austin) from Dallas where I picked up my new Reflexxion cowl hood. I love the shaker too, but had dropped some cash into a new intake, and hood only cost $340.
My question to you 'experienced' aftermarket hood guys. I'm eager to slap this sucker on tomorrow to see how it looks. Should I put it on the truck before it's painted??? Should I leave it off to be painted??? (This may sound stupid but I've never dealt w/this before :)
Another question I have is removing the grille. I know I can get that metal bar off,,,but it looks like there are some additional studs that are holding the grille to the hood. How do those come off??????(It was dark when I got home, and couldn't tell if those are bit-heads that can be backed out.) How do the come off?
Again,,sorry for going off topic there.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Andy

It's always a good idea to fit a hood before it's painted ... just in case something isn't quite right!

To remove the grill frame you remove the nuts from the studs and then grab the studs with vise grips and they'll turn out. My shaker came with new screws to replace the nuts & studs. I dunno if the Reflexxion hood comes with that hardware or not. You'll see what I'm talking about when you go to disassemble yours.

Good luck!

sorry I didn't do this in real time,,would be more interesting,,,,but dang! women don't understand.
Anywho's,,,,finished in just about an hour. The grill was easier to do after getting a good look at it in the light. I still need to 'nudge' another quarter inch to the passenger side, and she'll be perfect. SUPER EASY, only need another pair of hands for removal and new install.
What sucked was removing the vinly stripes. The goof-off stuff didn't work too good.(IMO) So I washed it well, and put about 2 gallons of elbow-grease into it, and BAM!,,,only a little left for manana.
I also went out and purchased one of those 3M eraser wheels for the drill,,,that thing worked like MAGIC! Went ahead and removed the 'Dakota Sport' too. Looks real clean.
Even though the hood is all black, and my truck is Graphite, it looks pretty good. Of course I'll have it painted this week probably.
Sorry for the ramble,,just have a good sense of accomplishment. I'll try to post some pic.s sometime.
Thanks for everyone's help!

Any one who wants to check out a good open and closed picture of a "shaker" should check out the May SPORT TRUCK page 142. Don't settle for anything but the orginal...
