Subject: Cheap Lifts For My 'Kota...

I am lookin for the cheapest way to clear 35" tires on my 97 cc dodge dakota 4x2. Money is pretty tight, so i need the cheapest ways while still having a somewhat comfortable ride. Everything is stock right now, and i just bought some 35" baja claws/rims package off of my friend. The truck will look bad ass with those tires under it and i need to know a cheap solution to my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated by a fellow dak owner. Thanks

You need to clear 35's on a 2wd Dak! Good luck! I think you would need about 8" of lift. If you put on a 3" Suspension (which I believe is the largest suspension lift made for your truck) which I believe will cost over $1000 plus installation and a 3" body lift for about $250, you could clear 33's. I've never heard of a 2wd Dak going any higher. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

On a 2wd you probably need more like 10" of lift to clear those meats since your starting out 3" lower than a 4x4. Your outta luck with lifting a 2wd for 35's without paying $10K for a custom fabbed suspension and then a body lift too. Us 4x4'ers have a tough time coming up with enough lift to fit 35's reasonably. I recommend selling the 35's and getting some 31's with a body lift, that's about as cheap as your gonna get ur truck somewhat lifted. Sorry for helping deliver the bad news but at least your gas mileage won't goto sh!t now:)

3 words SOLID AXLE SWAP!

Convert it to a solid axle 4wd and go as high as you want!

If you really want to keep it 2wd and you really must fit those 35's you can do a couple of things:

3" Fabtech suspension, 3" body lift, and get fiberglass fenders. Say a couple Hail Mary's, bolt on the tires, and see if they rub.

Get the 3" fabtech lift, use 2" fabtech springs and 2" coil spacers (or get custom 4" springs) for 4" of lift. I wouldn't recommend the 3" spirngs and 2" spacer because it will ride like sh!t. The go out and get a 3" P.A. body lift. When you get the body lift count the number of "pucks" in the kit call around and get some 4" body lift blocks. Also get 1" londer bolts than the kit has. They make 4" kits for a few other trucks. Try to basically recreate all of the components in the P.A. body lift so you can send the 3" one back and get your money. Do a little custom work and you have 4" of body lift. I never said it would be easy but its doable. 8" of lift will be tight you you may make it.

Good Luck

He would need more like 11 or 12 inches of lift. Why did you buy those tires from him? It will cost way to much to run those tires.
