It depends. 97-99 the 4WD shifter is not mounted to the body, so the handle (the part you see in the cab) needs to be extended, I believe by welding in an extension to the shifter itself. For 2000, the 4WD shifter is mounted to the body and operates the transfer case through a linkage. In this case, the linkage needs to have a rod welded in. In the Performance Accesories body lift, the rod is included. And I've heard of people using threaded couplers instead of welding in an extension. Mine is welded into the linkage thanks to a good neighbor of Hawkeye's that has a welder at home.
