Subject: 33x14.5x15 Boggers!! IP: Logged
Message: OK...so Ive got the cash for the new meats (Super Swamper Boggers...hehe...33x14.5x15's) mounted on American Eagle 589 Rims. (Package Deal...4wheelparts.com !!) Now my only question is:
I can only get them with 3 3/4" backspacing. Is that going to be enough room to run them?
I have found another DAK with teh same combo, although...i think its a 2 wheel drive. You can check it out here: http://www.truckworld.com/Readers-Rides/1rr.html#dodge Go down about 4 trucks and youll see it. Hes running a body lift and a fabtech lift. As far as I know, fabtech only makes a 2 wheel drive unit for the dak...am i right? Ive emailed him, but he wont reply back. So I need your help...
If I have to...sigh... ill go down to the 33x12.5x15, which I know will fit.. but the lure of the extra 2 inches is just calling my name.
What do you all think?
Thanks for any help.

Message: My 32x12.50 Mickey's run on a wheel with 3.75" backspacing. They rub "something" (haven't crawled under to figure out where) when turning tight in reverse. I don't think you wanna try 14.50's! Would be super cool, but don't think it'll work with 3" body lift. And you're right, Fabtech doesn't do anything for our 4x4 daks.
Good luck Dakota!

Message: Have you ever owned Boggers before, or even ridden in a truck that has them?
I've owned three sets of Boggers before, and if your truck sees ANY highway use at all, well, ... lets just say I cannot think of a worse tire to put on your truck than those Boggers. I did good to get 10K miles out of each set of Boggers I ran before (the rear locking differential in that truck didn't help tire life though). The tires flat spot horribly each morning, and never really smooth out anyway, even after the flat spotting goes away. And the NOISE, oh my god the noise! If you ever have to drive more than a hundred miles in a day, you will be tone deaf, or stir crazy, or both, before you get there.
If you're just getting them to look cool, I suggest something different, ANYTHING different.
Doc.

Message: I ran the 15X8 wheels with that backspacing on my 99 4x4 sport with a 4" body lift and cranked torsion bars. I had generic 33x12.50 mud tires and they still rubbed. If you would like I can hook you up with a really good deal on my wheels only had them on the truck for a summer then traded the truck for a 2002 F250. I also have a black westin grill guard and a set of 15x7 ultra wheels with a stock backspacing. I need to get rid of it all so make an offer for anything. You could respond to the post or e-mail me at r_smeltz@hotmail.com. anyway good luck on your quest for the perfect truck.

Message: My freind has 35" boggers on his Balzer and everytime we take a ride that is more than 5 minutes, I always get sleepy because of the very loud hum and vibration. First time I was in it, I remember how weird it felt to roll and feel each knob roll along. Now they are pretty much slicks except for the side lugs and it gets pretty fun in the ran but then again its not my vehicle.

Message: I wouldn't recomend the boggers on your dak. I would go with the thornbirds. They work great in the mud and wear like iron. My buddy has the 35X14.5X15 on his 84 blazer. He has had them for 4 years!! It is a daily driver and he goes to pismo at least 7 times a year. He has more tread left then his brother who just got the SSR 31X10.5X15 on his jeep less then a year ago. Go with the thornbirds.

Message: For one thing I haved owned both boggers and thornchickens and the thornbirds were not worth a s#*$. For one thing your little friends blazer if its a s-10 blazer dont weigh as much as the dakota and aren't going to wear as quick. For another thing a thornbird is not a mud tire, its a rock, sand, and dirt tire just like a mickey thompson. If your going to b!tch about tire wear you would be better off to drop your truck back down and put it on some damn road huggers.

Message: Hey Wayne John no it all whatever your name is. This is Kenny and the s-10 Blazer kicks dakotas a$$. and I've got 35X16X16.5r Boggers with a 5" trailmaster suspension lift, a custom 3" lift in front (torsion bars and a-arms) and 3" blocks in the rear. my tires have about 3 3/4" backspacing. They don't rub. I also hade to cut my wheel wells slightly, and add 3 3/4" bushwacker cut-outs. You don't sound to bad though, because the Thornbirds are for looks not mud. Get real muddin meats THE BOGGERS!!!!
Oh and I wouldn't doubt a dakota could put up a good fight. It depends on the driver and MODS.

Message: How did you add another 3" of lift to the 5" trailmaster lift? Also the trailmaster kit comes with a tapered block to use after you flip the axle underneath the spring and if you added another 3" block your drive line angle would be unsafe without dropping the engine/tranny. I know this, because I installed the trailmaster 5" suspension and 3" body lift on my Modded 1991 4.3 S-10 Blazer that I sold a few years back. I had Bushwacker extenda flares(not cut-outs) and was running 33x12.50 MT's with no rubbing.
