Just so u know i have a 95 2wd 4cyl dak. Here is my idea for a cheap lift.
FRONT-i am pretty sure that coil springs for jeep cherokees are the same width. They are taller and probably stiffer because of engine difference. I figured those would probably get me 3-4 inches.
BACK-flip leafs to over the axle and add block if necessary.
Any comments?Think it will work?

Too much on the front. It can barely handle 3in susp. And thats with new upper arms. Other wise they will hit the frame alot. Not good.
Maybe you could shorten thema bit. ???

Think of it this way.
Your upper and lower arms are still in stock position right. Now if you put a 2in spacerin the stock arm set up, you have shoved the arms both at a sharper angle downward. That cuts 2in of it travel out. Our daks can handle that.
Now shove 3ins between those arms. That moves the arms downward. Only problem is the stock arms can go that far without being modified. Either by haveing new arms designed to have 3in of lift in them, or relocating the mounting points lower than stock.
All in all, if you shove 3ins of spring into your daks stock suspension, your upper a arm will rest on the frame from being shoved too far. You will only have upward travel in the suspension. No downward travel cuz the arm is resting on the frame. Try it if you must, but its just a heads up from everything I have learned over the last couple years of research.

o i believe u? i just didnt understand how it would do that. now i think i get it. im kinda knew to this(being only 16) and so is there a way that i could get more than 3 out of it?

Yeah, hope that Fabtech, AIM, or some other company makes a 3in lift spindle for our early daks. Then you could run a 3in body lift, 3in suspension lift, and a 3in spindle lift and get 34-35 in tires underyour dak.

THEN GET ON THE EMAIL BANDWAGON and start bugging the hell out of them all to make the spindles. Start sending them emails every couple of weeks and get your Dakota driving friends to do it also. We need the requests come hit them in quantity before they'll even think about it.

but arent suspension lifts really expensive? i can seem to find a body lift around here. can i use a 4wd one for my year? cause that is all i can seem to find

Check out Trailmaster. They have a kit that runs about $180. total. It is listed for the 86-90 Dakotas 4wd but will work on our 2wds with a bit of adjusting.
1. you must extend the steering shaft about 2-3 inches.
2. You must extend the fan shroud, behind the radiator, down 3in. Nothing major.
Suspensions lift run from $250. for 2in spacers to $400.00 for 3in coils & arms, to $700. for the long travel kit.
