Subject: lift for 2wd IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone make a lift bigger than fabtechs 3in for 2wd. I have searched everywhere, with no luck. As of right now I have the fabtech 3in with the pa body lift supported by 33's. I would love to raise it up higher. Also my truck is a 2001 genlll 3.9 dakota 2wd. Thanks for any comments.

Message: I've been told you can add 2inch coil spacers ontop of the 3 inch fabtech and 2inch shackles to the rear for a bit more height.

Message: No can do man. Only the 3in coil. Anything more will stress out the front end steering and links. Just ask aroubd abit more. You get plenty of NO NO Nos.

Message: We have the 3 inch susp, 3 inch body. I have the 2 inch shackle lift in the rear just to level it out. We won't dare go with 2 inch coil spacers with that 3 inch susp. No way....like Joe E. said: "NO NO NO". :) Would kill the ride and you will have no downward articulation. Basically what i'm saying is, your front end would suck. Only get like 1 inch of lift from that 2 inch coil because it can only got down one more inch after that 3 inch suspension. They should have this warning on the dakota coil spacer packages: "Attention 3 inch suspension lifters: Open at your own risk" :)

Message: You can put a 2 inch spacer on with the 3 inch Fabtech lift if you put a spacer between the upper ball joint and the upper a-arm. I can't see why if you go 2 inches with the coil pacer than go 2 inches with the a-arm. Unless anyone thinks it can't work I don't see what's wrong with it. Any suggestions? G

Message: With out relocating the A arm bracketitry, the lift wont work. Think about this. The stock suspension is meant to travel downwards about 4 inches give or take a few cm. More than tat travel, your upper arm will hit the frame. Causing for possible damage to the suspension. Now with a 3in fabtech lift, the stock suspension bracketry is all in place. But the 3in larger spring causes the arms to force downward. Your travel gets cut by 3 inches. So you have 1inch left. Now shove a 2in spacer in there, Now you have -1 inches of downward travel. Thus your a arm is resting on the frame. Not good for your truck.
OK, my numbers might be off somewhat, but the idea still applies. Not even to get into the Rack and pinion steering system which has a hard time dealing with a 3in lift. The angles of he tie rods ends being to great.
Its not a good idea man. If you want your truck to last, take care of it and do things right. I wanted to do the same thing to my dak when I first got into lifting but now realize after reading all kinds of literature and talking to the awsomw guy and gilrs of this site, that there are some limits to lifting. Just cant go past the.

Message: I'll take your word on it. I haven't heard too much good about this either. I really don't know what it would do to the steering but it just seemed like a really good idea a friend of mine and I that were talking about doing this. He's starting to put his 3 inch body on his 2001 Dak and me with both 3 inch Fab and 3 inch body. There's a Quad Cab that did this. I don't have the address right now but I'll get it. It looked really nice. But I also noticed that he's selling it now. Maybe he has problems. Well thanks for the info. I think I'll stick with what I have. Thanks, Greg

Message: the quad cab is quad2nv and he tried doing the spacer but you couldn't even have any travel on your suspension , so he either has no suspension or has the 3 plus 3 set up ..............
