Subject: Body Lift / Handling IP: Logged
Message: I was thinking of doing a 3" body lift and had a question for you folks that already have one. How has the lift affected truck handling in the corners, on/off ramps, curvy roads, etc.. Is there MUCH more body roll than stock height, due to a higher center of gravity?
I know its not a race car, but for a truck, I think it handles pretty well. I have a topper on the back and that helps keep the rear planted.

Message: So, lifting the Dak will not only void your warranty, but it will make a rollover accident far more likely. It'll look cool, just drive slow in the turns. Don't flip a good Dak and kill yourself in the process!

Message: I have a 3 inch body lift and I love it.
Your center of gravity will be raised somewhat. The truck might lean slightly more in the corners, but not much...remember, you're leaving a lot of the heavy parts of the truck (frame, engine, etc) exactly where they were before. However what body roll is present will be felt more by you, since you'll be sitting 3 inches higher.
And the warranty issue...a dealer has to prove that any problems you have with the truck are a direct result of the body lift.

Message: Don't lift the body unless you have the mechanical knowledge to deal with problems later on! Simple folks need to keep their Dak simple.

Message: To all of you idiots out there that continue to harp on us Dakota owners that have body lift...get back to your sentra.com homepage and leave us alone. IF there were ANY REAL susp. lifts out there for us , rest assured there would be a lot less body lifted Dakotas , but there isn`t. If any of you are smart enough , why don`t you go on ahead and design and build a susp. lift for us...apparently there`s a lot of money to be made if you were able to do it right!
AlaskaDman...maybe you could tell me about ALL of the problems one might encounter after raising the body 3in. as apposed to hacking your susp. up to install one of the POS lifts we have to choose from now!
I`ve owned 4 different trucks , from Nissan , Toyota , and two Dakotas , all with body lifts and susp.lifts (except my 02 because I refuse to install an inferior susp. lift on my 30K truck) and the only problem I`ve EVER had was with the Tuff Country lift on my last truck. Not once have I had a problem of any kind concerning a body lift.
As far as the handling before and after the lift... if you go with a little wider wheel and tire combo your truck might handle better after the lift. To me , mine rides and handles as good or better now.
