Message: The torsion bars are adjusted by tightening or loosening the adjuster bolt. Cranking is just the term since you tighten them to raise the front end. I had my local tire guys do it for $80.00 and they aligned it after, which I would do just so you know it is ok. When you crank them just make sure you do not turn them all the way tight. If you look under the truck about where the front middle of the door is you will see the bar and at the end of it is a bolt oh about 3" long or so and 3/4 " round or so and it should have allot of thread showing to tighten if they have not been messed with.

Message: If I were you I would do it myself to make sure both sides stay even meaning count how many turns on each side to keep them the same. Its not worth 80 bucs for something that takes 1 minute to do. You shouldn't need an alignment, I checked mine after I cranked em along with a body lift and my specs were the same as when it left the line.

Message: Timmy - You do need a alignment afterwords.
To try and get a picture of how it works. Picture a small remote controled car. If you lift up the front of a r/c car the tires drop down and in. The bottom side of the tire will be further under the truck then the top of the tire.. I'll try and show you with text what it looks like before and after lifting with your suspension.
Before ------ After
||---|| ....... \\---//
Because you are raising your trucks suspension you are pushing the tires to the ground. Which because of the angle of the suspension tilts the tires in.
Timmy - The truck will probably still drive straight on the road if you raised them evenly but the outside of the tires will wear ALOT quicker then the inside. If you don't believe me look at your tires after about 7,000 miles it should be noticable then.

Message: Here is why you should take it to a good tire shop and why the $$ is worth it.
Although I had other work done at the time, while they cranked and adjusted I had them do a Laser level check that they offered so the truck was at the level I wanted. A good tire shop should be able to do this. As far as the alignment, this is a area that you will get mixed input on, Just do it. You will be pissed when you notice rubber wearing wrong and you do not feel any align problem.
To the tops of both of my wheel wells at the bottom of the flares are about 37" all the way around and level. They cranked the torsion bars to different levels to accomplish this.
Your truck and your money!

Message: Understood and point taken. You are right but all I was saying is that I did mine and it didn't change it from were I had it and even if it was off I wouldn't be able to change it any way. Camber that is. My alignment mach. is a few years old and still uses the strings that attach the heads but its usually pretty reliable.
