Can anyone shed some light on how they modified their aftermarket intake when they installed a body lift? I have an 01 with 4.7 using the AirRaid Quickfit Intake system that rests on top of the stock air box and forsee some problems with this setup once the body is raised 3 inches, such as a huge kink in the factory intake hose coming off the back of Air Filter. Possibly some flex hosing that is more flexible than the factory intake hose or should I scrap it all and use a different system? I am waiting for by lift to arrive and trying to plan my attack so I can complete it all in one day without scratchin my head half the time and running all over for parts. I plan on adding a ported throttle body in the springtime which should not change how I setup my intake now?

Replace your stock air hat with a 3 inch rubber 90. Then you can turn it up at an angle so that the hose is not kinked so much.

Thanks for the great idea! I think I'll pick-up the parts tomorrow and put it together so all I will have to do is loosen the elbow up and rotate when I jack'er up, I think that's gonna do the trick. What kind of intake setup are you using Hawkeye, I see you have a 3" body lift too. Did I see in another post that when you lift the body, the radiator hoses are not long enough and a universal NAPA hose can be used? If so, is it a cut to fit or comes in a certain length? Is that the only "modification" other than lengthening the automatic transmission shifter? I will be likely leaving the bottom half of the radiator shroud off instead of cutting the hell out of it, heard there is not much left to it when your done anyway. With all the information on this site and helpful people, I will have this lift on in about 6-8/hrs(did my blazer in about 10/hrs but it was my first one) if it ever gets here, I ordered it and "lift lips" last Friday from Truck Performance and they told me it was being drop shipped from the factory, patiently waiting...

For my intake I have a 3 inch rubber 90 that I just clamped onto the TB, then, too a piece of 3 inch pvc about 4 inches long, and use that to connect the 90 to the stock flex hose. I have a drop in K&N in the stock air box. I took the stock snorkel off the air box and cut 2 holes on each side of the airbox and one opposite where the snorkel was. No problem when I lifted it. The lower radiator hose I used was a 21 inch long universal fit from NAPA. Universal just means that it is not pre-shaped like the factory ones. It also comes in a 19 inch so make sure you get the 21 inch. There is no lengthening of the transmission linkage as it is a cable and it already has enough length. Since you have an 01, if its a 4x4 then you have the dash switch for the 4wd engagment so there is nothing to lengthen there. As for the fan shroud, put it back on. You will only be cutting of a lip that is about 3/4 of on inch wide. Not a lot of cutting at all. Remember, the 2000 & 01 kits and trucks are quite different from the 97 - 99 trucks in these areas.

Thanks again, I really hope my lift is sitting on my porch when I get home from work tonight and I can install it tomorrow. Since I will have the extra parts I need and know what mods will be done ahead of time, it is going to be a walk in the park. I see your from Jacksonville, my wife was born there, we live in Central NY where I have yet to see a Gen III Body or Custom Suspension lift on a Dak so I will be the first.

My wish came true, lift was waiting for me when I got home from work! Have to wait until Friday to install though:( Spare Intake parts purchased and ready to go. I read the instructions(somewhat hard to follow) and there are a whole lot of things to disconnect, unhook, move, rearrange before you can even think about lifting the body and the spare tire relocation sequence on paper has me stumped although I am expect it may become clearer once I am actually under the truck working away. More prep time than I expected, but the results will be worth it. Anyone have any last minute suggestions before I dive in to make my life easier? Any help would be appreciated from y'alls experience.
