Subject: Question on Gears
IP: Logged

Message:
I know that they make a 4.11 and a 4.56. I heard that Born2Steel has 4.56 gears, and I was wondering if I should go with 4.11 or 4.56 after 3in body lift, 3in suspension lift, and 33in tires. I am also planning on going to dual exhaust and I know that tends to make the truck lose torque. Any help?

From the sounds of it u got a 2wd, with 2wd, the more gear the better...the extra power helps get you out of hairy offroading situations. Toyota PreRunners have been doing that forever!

Personally, I'm running 33s and 4.10s and am quite happy. I'm actually thinking of going to 35s and leaving the 4.10s which would leave me with a final ratio close to stock. I think you'll be fine with 4.10s but that's not to say you can't go with the 4.56s.

Are you in a 4wd or a 2wd UWGriz? Also do you have some sort of limited slip, locker, or spool?

It's 4WD. Right now it's open but I'm investigating a locker.

I have a 2wd that is open and I think I'm going to get 4.56 gears with a locker, but still trying to decide.
