Message: This is how I did mine (from the Dakota Mailing List):
FOG LAMPS ON WITH HIGH BEAMS
This is a fairly simple, 5 minute procedure. First, you must remove the black plastic dash frame. It just snaps out. Then, remove the 3 screws holding the headlight switch in and remove the switch. There are 2 connectors on the back of the switch.. A 2-wire connector and a multi-wire connector. The 2 wire connector has a BLACK and a BLACK with GREEN STRIPE wire. Run a jumper from the BLACK with GREEN STRIPE wire in the 2 wire connector to the LIGHT BLUE with BLACK stripe wire on the multi-wire connector. That's it! Your fog lights will come on when you turn them on (parking lamps must be on, at least) and will stay on with low or high beams.
You may want to double check the wires that are listed here (they were right for my '99, but who knows if anything changed).
BTW, just for everyone's info, if you're looking for both the low beams and high beams on together, don't buy the relays that you find in Jeg's, Summit, etc. They don't work. Our trucks are wired differently (they actually complete the circuit on the ground side). We did install it on my friends Ford and it worked great, even keeps his fogs on with the high beams now. If anyone knows how to get both lows and highs on our trucks, please let me know.

Is there a different way to this?? on the 2 WIRE connector, there was a black wire, and a yellow wire, not a black one with a green stripe, i tried jumping both wires to the light blue one on the multi wire connector, but niehter worked. is there a different wire on the mulit wire connect that i need to jump to?? ne way, ttyl.

Message: BigDakota97.....I have had my foglights converted for about 3 years now on my 97, but mine was done a different way.
Open your hood and disconnect battery!!! On the driver's side, remove the fusebox cover. In the top right hand corner, you will see a black fuse/relay, I believe it is listed as relay #1. On my truck, there is a relay spot just below the one you need to convert that does not have a relay in it, and hasn't since I got the truck.
As you gently pull the relay up out of the hole, be aware that it has 5 prongs on it that plug into the fuse box. If you are standing over your driver?s fender under the hood, you will need to take a set of needle nose pliers and bend the first prong , there are 3 in a row, that is located on the far left and is parallel to you ( if you turn the relay upside down to look at it, (looking at prongs) the prong you need to bend will now be located on the far right.) You will need to bend it all the way around so that when you re-insert the relay, the prong is still visible. Re-insert relay. It will resemble a horseshoe shape when you get done. From there, take a ground wire and attach one end of it to the end of the exposed prong that you bent up, and the other end needs to be grounded/attached to the fender. Now your fog lights should work when high beams are on. Again, I have used this method for almost 3 years and have never had a problem. Try at your own risk..lol

Message: The easiest way to do it is just to get the chilton manual and figure out your own way for your truck. There are so many variations that it is hard to make one specific way to do it. If anyone needs help and lives in Dallas, College Station, or Galveston, I can come help you do the conversion.
