 Subject: Front Axle

When in 4wheel drive (high or low) my front axle makes a popping noise that sounds like something is binding while making turns and going in reverse. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have any ideas?? BTW I have a 98cc 4x4 with a v6 3in body lift and 33's.

Is there a way to check them without disassembly? I have the Haynes manule, and It looks like a long procedure.

Your CV joints are turning all of the time so if it only makes it in 4wd then I doubt it's that. Theck your front driveshaft where it comes out of the t-case

I just got my truck back from a shop who was putting in a new clutch. They check the drive shaft and said it is fine, and they greased it. So I know that it isnt the drive shaft. I am going to the dealership today to get their opinion. Thanks for the input.

If it does this on dry pavement then it is normal. DON'T PUT IT IN 4WD ON DRY PAVEMENT! If it is doing it in the dirt or snow then you could have problems. Probably in the Diff.

I know not to use it on dry pavement, it makes the noise on dirt, rock, grass slopes, ect. It also only does it while turning.

I have the same truck with a Performance acc. 3 inch body lift. that is how my front cj shaft started just while turning but watch out budd one dy its gonna explode. I know mine did yesterday.. 155$ part
