It depends on how wide a tire you want. If you want to get 12.5" wide tires you will need at least a 8" wide wheel.

I just ordered new wheels for my 2002 Dak and have my stock rims for sale - 16x?(7 or 8)not sure. How would I find out the width (measure from back side to front?) I'm asking $250.00 for the set. I just bought the truck 2 weeks ago and it has less than 1000 miles on it.

How come evryone seems to be running 15" rims? Is it due to "technical" reasons, preference, price or what? Just wondering since my Dak had 16" stock wheels.

Most tend to run 15 inch rims cuz there are more options for those. It's the most standard size rims on trucks. By the way, my buddy put 33x12.5 mudders on his 16x7 inch rim..so a 7 inch width rim CAN fit 12.5 inch wide tires....has a nice look too;)

I have the stock 15 X 7 rims and was wondering about the possibility of running 33 X 12.50 on them. I know it is physically possible but would it cause excess bulging or cupping of the tire. Or would it cause the tire to rub the inner fender and frame severly because of the extremely narrow width???? I wish there were some big book of answers for people with daks that lists all the life experiences of every dak owner and their mods... Might just cut and paste all the postings on this board into an encyclopedia. lol ... Anyway i am rambling .. thanks for any input

It is physically possible to fit 33's on it, althought the person who will install them would probably warn you. Rubbing depends on the lift you have and backspacing so if you can provide that information, then we can tell u about the rubbing issue.

I guess I should have been more specific. With the 3" body lift and the torsion bars slightly cranked to help level it out. As far as backspacing goes its whatever the factory 15 X 7 wheels had I do not know what the measurement is for sure. Chaximus Would running the 12.50's on a 7" wide rim cause them to cup or buldge? I have never tried it before. What would the person mounting them be warning me about? Thank you

I have searched all over the net for an answer to what exactly the person mounting them will warn me about. So far i have seen some people say that mounting a 33 x 12.50 on a 15 x 7 rim could cause it to loose the bead. But i have seen as many people say they have done it with their vehicles. Several say you have to run lower pressure because of the narrow rim ???? is this true, never heard of that one before???

Yes you can fit those 12.5's on 7" wheels but tire companies do not recommend it. You should be able to get this info from the tire company's website.
The reason I said earlier that you will need a 8" wheel is because thats what they recommend for your tire to stay on the wheel.

ok so the 8 inch wide wheels will help to ensure the tire does not pop a bead... gotcha. That is what i thought but I wasnt sure. Thanks a mill
