do any of you know what a-arms do that come with these 2wd lifts or in general? Fabtech says you need new rims because of it, but I was wondering why they put a new a-arm in thier kits. will this increase travel or alignment? i don't no much about suspension so I hope somebody can help me with this.

Mike, when a suspension is lifted, the entire suspension assembly is pushed towards the ground. Thus your tires will be badly outa alignment. The Upper A arms compensate for this. Because they are engineered with the lift in mind. Another thing, On Dakotas, the stock A-arm is not big enough to have a 3+in lift on it without it hitting the frame. We all know that would not be good. The aftermarket A arm would be bent enough so when the suspennsion is flexed, the a arm will not hit the frame.
I hope you get what I am talking about. Just trust them manufactures, they do know what they are doing. Good Luck
