Subject: Gen II glass fenders IP: Logged
Message: The following is what I posed to Baja Concepts:
Subject: Can you get Anything??
Hello Rich,
Your web site states you can get most anything.
I am looking for extended glass fenders for my 1995 Dakota. I see you have them listed, but was wondering if they should start at 1997.
There has been a bit of discussion on dodgedakotas.com about this for the earlier Dakotas, and your company's name has come up more than once on their boards as a possible place to get parts for the "gen I and gen II" models
(80's and 90's)
Also looking for a pre-runner light bar. I built a full one (with a skid plate) a few years back, but had a slight mishap and now it is sitting in my garage. I am currently not in a good
location (rural Maryland) to acquire tubing stock to make another. I did draw plans (with angles and everything) and it was a complete bolt on,
using factory holes! Would there be someone interested?
Sincerely,
Bill BillingerBill,
Their Response:
You're are correct, our website should read 1997 and up Dodge Dakota Fenders, not '95.
(HERE IS THE KICKER) We used to have access to the molds for your truck but when the old Dodge Dakota race truck was sold to an overseas client, the molds got shipped with it, far, far away! Sorry!

I guess we'll have to keep looking. Anybody ever try to make the wide fenders by welding on sheetmetal from some other vehicle?

Message: Hey dweishaar,
You know Mike?
How bout hookin some (Dakota)Brothers up and encouraging him to produce those fenders again. I am origianlly from the desert (Ridgecrest, CA), but the Navy has me in MD now. I would really like to show the folks on the east coast what a "Desert Truck" is all about. I know there are more than a couple of us Gen II owners that would be all over them.

As long as we're asking, here's my wishlist:
Front _and_ shortbed rear.
Wheel openings that allow for a '79 Bronco solid axle swap with the front axle moved forward 2 inches.
Roomy enough to fit 35's with a 2inch body lift.
Prices that aren't higher than his other items would be perfect.
I didn't win the lottery last night, so maybe my luck will show up here instead. :P

One Eye, what kind of cash we talking? Prepay on a set of fenders? That is possible. Maybe Mike has some old pics that could be posted here, that might generate some real intrest among the Gen II owners. Thanks in advance.
