Message: I would like to add the 3" Fabtech suspension lift to my '98 rc 4X2 3.9L 5-speed. I already installed a 3" body lift and 31X10.5 bfg's. If someone would please tell me what I have to buy in order for this application to work properly? I heard many stories about back spacing and rubbing. What problems I'm I looking at if I get it installed?
Thanks

Message: pretty much you should be fine... the rubbing and stuff comes in when you wana add bigger tires but as for the lift it should just slap right in...

Message: I had the fabtech lift on my old dakota and I can tell you it is not possible to run stock wheels on the fabtech lift. you are going to have to get new rims but yes 33s will fit with slight triming.

Message: its possible to run stock wheels if you get some 2in wheel spacers. fabtech requires a 3.5 backspacig and the stock rim is 5.5

Message: I PAID 1221.00 FOR 5 NEW TIRES AND WHEELS THROUGH AMERICAN/DISCOUNT TIRES. DO NOT GET WHEEL SPACERS, UNLESS YOU ARE ONLY DOING COSMETIC LIFTING. SPACERS PUT EXCESS STRAIN ON THE AXEL, AS WELL AS PUTTING ?? X 10'S. I HAVE ONLY THE LIFT (SO I CAN ONLY ADVISE YOU ON THAT) I HAD TO DO MAJOR I REPEAT.....MAJOR TRIMMING. I STILL HAD TO PUT SPACERS IN THE BACK CAUSE I WAS BOTTOMING OUT MY REARS, BUT FOR YOU UNFORTUNATE PEOPLE WITH BODY LIFTS, YOU SHOULD BE OKAY. A 33 FITS IN AN UNFABRICATED REAR FENDER. GOOD LUCK TO YOU, AND SORRY TO HEAR THAT ANOTHER DODGE WAS WASTED ON A BODY LIFT.

Message: For your info, getting wheel spacers or new rims with proper backspacing is the exact same thing. Both stick out more, no difference. I had my spacers on for a while now and no problem at all. Don't be giving out information unless it's a fact. And why u have to make a big deal out of body lifts. We know u hate them so just leave it be. A truck with a body lift is not wasted, it's lifted!

Message: Hey dweishaar, nice fenders. I thought about added the same ones but I didn't really like that much flare on them. Being that my current truck isn't going to Baja anytime soon I figured I would pass. Your truck should look great once its all painted and finished.
I'm sad to hear you hate the body lifts so much! I can honestly say I did too... at first. I had a 2wd S-10 a few years ago that we use to race in Mexico with a 6" Fabtech lift, 33's, and flared-out fenders. It had a small block 350 with 375 H.P. The truck flew! I wanted 35's so I put my first body lift on it for a total of 9 inches. I hated it. We actually rolled the truck in a night race (washed out road) and flipped it back over with no harm to the body lift! So at least they are strong.
After a few years I bought my Dakota and wanted the same 6" Fabtech lift, only 3" was available. So I found THIS site, listened to readers and noticed in pictures that the body lift looked better on the Dakota than any other truck I've seen. For 170 bones I tried it out. I really liked it! In fact, I know this sounds horrible, but if I could only have 3" of lift and my choice was my Fabtech lift or the body lift... I like the body lift better. Now don't get me wrong, I would choose a suspension lift over a body any day of the week, but this is JUST for the Dakota. The stock suspension isn't designed for more travel (i.e. lift) so stock actually rides better for off-road than the susp. lift. The body didn't change a thing except allow for bigger, better looking and performing tires.
I didn't mean to write a novel, sorry... I'm just trying to let non-body lifted owners know some reasoning behind why we went that route. Again, this is just for a Dakota and not other trucks. Each modification has different effects on different rigs! All that REALLY matters is if you are having fun or not, right!?! I know I am!! Oh wait... I have a body lift... I can't have fun. ;-)

The damn boots slipped off of my cv joints and the grease is pooring out and dirt is filling in. My barings are sqeeking. I'm thinking I need to find an after market axel to lessen the angle from the axel to the wheels, so there's not such a huge stretch. okay damn it I'm a chick.... help me ;)
