Message: hi
ok i have a 2000 v6 sport 2wd. i was wondering what the biggest and widest tire i can fit (on the stock 15in wheels) in the wheel wells if i got a 3 in body lift? also, if i got the body lift, is there anything i can do to level out the front and rear? if i added the fabtech basic lift with the body lift, would i be able to fit 33s? one last Q, is there anyway or anywhere i can go to recalibrate the speedo?
thank you soo much for your time. i did a lot of searching but i kept getting mixed up with 4wd and stuff from the posts. so i just wanted to make a post specifically for my truck. i wont be doing and off roading so this will just be for looks. thanks again.

Message: I'm pretty much in the same boat, I have a '97 v6 sport 2wd. I'm confused - a body lift leaves the front and rear out of level? I know that a dealership can recalibrate your speedo - for pretty cheap too, at least one person said they got theirs done for free. I am thinking about getting the 3" body lift and larger tires and leaving it at that because I don't want to deal with the backspacing problems of the suspension lift. Does anyone have before and after pics of a body lift? Thanks.

Message: hrmm i need to call the dealer.. they said they couldnt recalabrate my speedo.. the bastards!.. anyways yeah a body lift will still keep your truck unlevel because well you just lifting the body equally over all 4 points of your truck (i mean corners by points) the fabtech 2" only raises the front end 2 inches and levels out the truck... or its suposed to anyways i dont know totaly yet because i just got mine in yesterday and cant install it until Sat. anyways if you wana check into lift costs and not get confused with looking at suspension lifts vs body lifts this site is very well made to keep them seperated and lookin only at what you wana see... and also the serves was really good they called back when they said they would... and within 15 minutes too! sorry ive never found a company that does that.. anyways wheres the site addie

Message: my truck wasnt... but the easiest way to find out is take a tape messure and take a messurement from your frame rail right behind the front tire then another one from right infront of the back tire... when i did it it held true to all the "leveling lift kits" out there i was 2" off give or take an 1/8...

Message: I have been told that they make the front ends sit lower in some makes of trucks to account for the fact that if you hook up a heavy trailer it will lift the front end a little. so the truck will look level when you have a trailer hooked up to it. I dont know for sure if this is true but it kinda makes sense.

Message: I have a 2002 2WD with the 3" body lift. I am going to get the 2" longer springs for $119 outside of fabtech. That will level it with a total of 5" of lift in the front. I am keeping my stock 16" wheels. If the rubbing is severe with the 285/75/16 tire I am going to buy a couple of wheel spacers. The front wheels have a narrower track than the rear anyway. I got a ticket on my way down to San Diego last year. I had a lifted S10 with 32" tires. My speedo said like 80 and my ticket said 92. Damn that sucked.

Message: On the speedo recalibrating. The dealer can only recalibrate to the various tire sizes that were offered as stock. Everything else needs the Truspeed by Superlift or the ability to do math quickly as you approach the speed trap...

Message: wow, thanks for all the replies. i really appreciate it.
yah my truck isnt level at stock, the front sits lower. i was thinking of getting the 3in body lift then the cheap 2in fabtech basic lift. is it possible to fit 33in tires with a 5in lift upfront or should i stick with 32s? does anyone know the widest tire i can get with the stock rims with minor trimming?
I am looking for a very wide stance, "wider is better" so i was thinking, if i got 2in wheel spacers will it make my wheels wider apart? if so would i need to 4 spacers or just 2 up front?
CHRIS: what springs are you goin for that cost 119? i know that the fabtech 2in comes with new springs and shocks but should i only get the springs and use the stock shocks? cheaper is better as well :)
sorry for all the Qs, thanks all of you. i wont be doing any offroadin at all, just daily driving.

Message: hey ,heard the dealer can only recalibrate to the largest tire they have that comes stock, which i think is 31in.
ok i got a new idea but i doubt it will work. what if we put on the 3in body lift, then flipped the rear leaf springs. that should put the back at 7in right? the thing that probably wont work is up front, can we put the bodylift, then the fabtech lift for 6in, the 2in coil spacers for a tottal of an 8/7 lift. i heard it wouldnt work becuase of the rack and pinion

Message: www.truckn-store.com has the $119 2" lift springs
I haven't gotten them yet. I am not sure if you can use the stock shocks or not. I have been told that the stock shocks are ok with the 2" lifted springs on the street. But I havent tried it yet. I'm waiting until my tires wear out so I can get the springs and bigger tires at the same time. The Fabtech deal comes with four shocks which is a good deal for about $250.

Message: For the guy on a budget, you can go to a parts store such as Pep Boys or Auto Zone, where they actually do sell extentions for shock absorbers. It is simply a small piece that screws onto the top end of the shock's piston shaft (that shiny threaded portion). The other end goes through the same hole the shock went through on your rig. They are only a couple bucks$$ and they maintain your original wheel travel distance. They DO work.
There is more to the rear springs than "just moving them". The spring "pad" is welded to the axle housing and will have to be cut off then re-welded to the top of the housing. You might find someone selling rear springs with more arch to them. That would simply be a bolt-on process.
Good Luck
