Subject: T.C. Suspension Lift Installed!!!
IP: Logged

Message:
Finally after debating on whether to go rancho or tuff country, suspension or body, I'm finally gonna be lifted. Just dropped my truck of today to have the T.C. suspension lift and powertrax installed on my Dak. I should have it back by Thursday night. I spent a long time debating on tires as well and I finally decided to go with Goodyear 33x12.50x15 AT/S's. It should all be done by Friday. I'm trying to get a hold of a digital camera so I can post some finished pics.

By the way, anyone from the midwest who are having problems deciding on a suspension lift for their dak should come to the Ohio meet in Lancaster on Sept. 7th. I believe BlueTwister is going to be there and I have the exact same dakota as him (blue, reg cab, 4x4). Everybody will be able to compare the rancho(his) and T.C. lift (mine) side by side on practically the same dakota. That pretty much weeds out any other variables when comparing the two.

$1265.00 for lift, powertrax, installation, and alignment...there was no argueing against that...lol

Of course the lift and powertrax were used but still you can't beat that price.

hey Born... how tall is your lift? you pretty much have the same truck i do... how many inches is it being raised? and do you have the rak or worm? cause ive got the rak =( and i havnt been able to find a lift sept for the tuff country.. so i bought the 2 inch lift cause i didnt feel like paying an extra 500 for one more inch... (hopefully the lift should be in today) but anyways for under 1300 that sounds pretty good and that with install included... so also one other thing what kinda drugs did you put in the guys coffee behind the counter to give you such a good deal? hehehe

lol...no drugs

The lift will total about 6 inches with the torsion bars being cranked a little. I'm not sure if I have the rak or worm. Someone would have to help me out with that one.

BTW that`s a hell of a deal you got there , I paid more than that just for the T.C. lift itself , a couple of years ago when I lifted my previous 99 Dak!

I get my truck back tomorrow and tires should go on Friday. I'm going to try to borrow a digital camera to take some pics but no promises. I'll be at the dakota cruise in at Lancaster, OH on Sept 7th if you want an up close and personal view of it. However, I'll try to get some pics before then.

Wolf,

That`s right...I knew that too.

Guess I just figured everyone that frequents around here knew the T.C. lift will not fit us "rackers".

Got my truck back today with good and bad news. The lift looks awesome and will look even better when I get my tires on tomorrow. Bad news is that my ball joints are out and I have to take it to the dealership to get new ones installed. So without the ball joints they tried their best to get it aligned. Got it pretty good for now but my steering wheel with the tires straight is at about the 8:00 o'clock position. So after I get tires tomorrow its off to the dealer to get that remedied. Other than that, it kicks a$$.

By the way, I'm going to be selling my tires. 31x10.5x15 Goodyear RT/S's. Two have about 50% tread left and two have about 95% tread left. If anybody's interested drop me an e-mail at born2steel21@yahoo.com.

Well I got the tires on today. Looks awesome. Only one problem though. I haven't heard of this from anyone I talked to but my stock rims are rubbing my tie rods...badly at that. The dak is parked for now until my new rims come in next week. Thank goodness for the 4wheelparts.com deal on xtreme alloys...about $330.00 out the door. It looks bad ass...alot better than I though on the regular cab.

Just kidding guys unless you really want to...lol.

I'm trying to get a friends digital camera to take some pics. I want to get some of the overflow tank that I'm fabricating for the front diff. vent hose. Something that I found out after the lift is that the vent hose for the front axle burps up gear oil through the vent hose because you basically have to overfill the diff. because of the new angle of the drive shaft. Thats what I'm told at least. Anyways, I'll post some pics when I find a camera.

Start-up: 5 gallons

All fuel tanks full (a little over 500 gallons): about 100 miles (sometimes less)

Now nobody should have any reason to complain about bad gas mileage ever again...lol

I ran into the same thing with the ball joints - I noticed them as I was putting on the lift. I went to the dealer to get them replaced and of course they said the ball joints were wore out from the lift. After much arguing, they finally replaced them.

I decided against having them reinstalled by the dealer because of (like you said) the hassle of argueing with them and because I've heard of dakota owners having to have them replaced 3 or 4 times within a couple of years. If I did get them to replace them now I would probably be back in a couple of years. Figured I just go with the Moog ball joints with grease fittings.

Eolavirs, the extreme alloys come in the 6x4.5 bolt pattern for the 15x8's, not the 15x10's.

I had the same problem with rubbing on the insides of the stock wheels. A new set of aftermarket wheels with a slightly different offset solved the issue. Now if I could only clear up the gear noise from the front diff!
