Subject: Body Lift Dilemma IP: Logged
Message: I have been really contemplating a body lift for my 01 CC 4x4 as I need more height but have some reservations and could use a little guidance. To keep it short as possible: Is the airbag operation affected? Do the popular kits come with front and rear bumper relocation brackets and how sturdy are they? How much of the lower fan shroud is cut-off? Has anyone taken their truck back for warranty work involving anything under the hood and received a hard time due to the engine resting lower in the engine bay? I have installed body and suspension lifts before on IFS so doing it is not a problem, I would just like to be somewhat informed before I lift'er up. Thanks in advance for any help.

Message: Well... lets see, you have a 01 so you'll have to get a 2000 kit if you go with a Performance Accessories lift (2000 is the latest but will fit). The kit does come with bumper brackets and they are strong enough. I just installed a 3" body lift on my 2002 QC and it works fine, although I haven't put the lower part of the fan shroud back on yet because I think the amount I would have to cut would make it useless anyway. As for the airbags, I'm pretty sure that they will work as normal since nothing else (other than the bumper height) is changed. It all goes SMASH! anyways in an accident.
The warranty rule of thumb is, the dealer must prove that the body lift is the cause of whatever is being fixed/replaced to not honor it. And that usually goes for any mod you do to your vehicle. Although, I haven't actually needed to go back to the dealer yet so I can't tell you for sure. All in all, I was pleased with my body lift and so far have had no problems.

Message: Thank you, Dilemma resolved. Ordering kit tonight and maybe have it installed by next weekend! My Dodge Dealer is pretty good, my 99 Dak had a bunch of aftermarket performance mods and had no problems when having warranty work done, that's probably because I keep them in business, 3 vehicles in the last 2 years.

Message: Anyone order their body lift from Truck Performance? I received an confirmation email that my kit should arrive by 11/19/01 and will be shipped directly from Performance Accesories, should it take that long? I am Jone'sn for the lift to arrive so I can install it and my Dak the only lifted Dak in CNY!

Message: I am from the Syracuse area and suprisingly I have not seen a lifted 97+ Dak yet, really, and I have seen alot of Daks driving around all at stock height. My Dak really sticks out now with the lift, I parked next to an Off-Road Ram and my Dak was only about 3-4 inches shorter, just waiting on the new tires/wheels to bring me up almost to the same altitude as the Off-Road and then patiently wait for a suspension lift to be produced.

I used to go out in Cicero through the "powerlines" off from Lakeshore Road but they have it all blocked off now and it was only good for muddin. I have been up in the adirondacks tolds Old Forge and had some fun up there but nothing like some of the off-roadin sites I have heard everyone talkin about on here:( If there is, I'd like to hear about it!

Message: Damn jLo, you drive from Oswego to downtown Syracuse, 45 minutes in summer and over an hour in lake effect:) I am downtown quite a bit even though I work off from Bridge Street, hit Party in the Plaza during the summer and alot of the winter festivities that go on downtown. I worked downtown for over 6 years and kinda miss the convenience for lunching, partying and those summer girls walking the pavement... If ya see me, beep twice!
