Message: i put a 3" PA lift on my truck a few weeks ago and added some 33" tires when i was at it. while i don't really have any complaints i have noticed my millage is for sh!t.
i was wondering if anyone else has run into this? i am running 3.55 gears and have not reprogrammed my computer. i have been told that reprogramming the trans helps as does doing a custom flash to match my exhaust and intake but am unsure.
can anyone who has done this let me know if this might help or if i'm just kinda stuck with the bad fuel economy.

Message: If you're going off of the trip computer in the console its off by a little until you calibrate the speed sensor. To get the correct MPG multiply what it says by (33/31). In town you'll lose MPG because it takes more to get the truck going. On the highway you will gain a little because your effctively lowering you gear ratio with the bigger tires.

Message: rember that if your looking at your trip odometer and it says that youve gone 100 miles you might have gone further because the tire covers more ground... you can figure it out by multiplying your old tire size (lets say 24") by Pi(~3.14) because the formula for the curconferance and youll get 75.4" your tire covers every time you make one rotation and your running 33 inches so you get 103.7" so then divid the 103.7 by 75.4 and you get 1.38 so thats your ratio so then multiply 100x1.38 and you have actualy gone 138 miles instead of 100

Message: Wolf,
I get your caluclation but what scares me is that if you know all of this to determine the actual miles driven based on that formula, I would think you would know how to spell Circumference.
Dude I am not raggin on you for your spelling that just threw me.
I have always wondered how to figure the amount of actual traveled miles.
This is what I came up with per your formula.
31 " tires = 97.34, 33" tires = 103.7 so if you divid these numbers you get 1.07.
So does this mean that for every 100 miles I am actually traveling 107 miles?
If this is true then I am getting about 15 miles to the tank less than with the 31" tires.
COOL if that is the way to figure it out.

Message: Yeah man I have read your posts you do know allot of stuff, Drafting CAD type stuff is cool.
Just don't take the spell thing personal bud! I just really stumbled on that one like many others you see on boards. Hell I never re-read a post to check for errors. We get it.
I have always wondered how to figure out the difference in tire size and distance traveled.
Atleast you are good at something! I suck at everything!
Thanks for the info!

Waynes site is back up at:
www.hansonenterprise.com
That is where I got the bumper and the prices are listed. No the winch is not included in the winch provisions.
His e-mail link is down but call him if you are interested.
If anyone has tried to contact him he is working on call backs. He has been slammed with a Jeep jamboree the last few weeks. I am also working with him to get some mounting issues cleared up before he send more out.

Message: Ok, now back to the original question. With 33's and a 3 inch body lift what kind of milage is everyone getting in comparison to their old factory truck with out the tires and lift

Message: I do not see the 3" body lift affecting gas milage that much. It would be all the extra weight and size of the tire that would effect it the most. Maybe a little more wind resistance with the 3' lift but I would not think it would affect MPG's by much. I think the number's put up show the difference between 31's and 33's so far. I see it being less than 1 mpg. If you are looking for some one with the Lift to confirm this, Sorry.

BUT i'll whip any factory trucks rear end on the road. my baby's quick!

Message: I did the same also. 3" body lift 2" torsion crank. Getting ready for some custom work and pre-runner set up. It's 4x4 but has headers with straight pipes, a true cai, pcm, and a shift kit. You should see the look on a 5.Slow owners face when you walk off. Oh it's got an NX kit too if I need it ;)
